In Belgium, there have been shootings at a metro station in the past 2 weeks by young people with weapons of war. there is one death and several injuries. it's probably a drug fight. what do you think of such situations? Does this also happen in your country? Are you afraid to go out on the street at night?: @Pennarossa2024, @Fleurke, @NILU1234, @Etienne, @Simone724, @mayuuram, @Sarahsalah27, @Esma-Nur, @Annika2007, @Emmiiii_17_11, @Miss_Penpal, @Sabri_KC, @elizabethtay836, @martutuni, @Roseeeee, @-Kiki-, @Lianshen

Where I live things like this don't happen. But in Italy there are very dangerous areas. There are often thieves here

A guy got shot by the police near my family's neighbourhood because he started stabbing people for no reason once. Other than that I can't find anything too bad that happened here... It's a rather chill place.

France has the highest crime rate in all of Europe. The justice system is completely broken. Just in the past 2 weeks, a cop was run over on purpose and the driver got a 150 euro fine.. Then a doctor got beaten up, nose broken, and the person who assaulted him only had to do some community service.. Every couple of weeks people will get stabbed to death.. It's truly awful. None of these things are even related to drugs

Here In my city these kinds of things don't happen, but you have to be very careful to go out especially in the evening, there are more delinquents around and they do what they want. A few days ago, around 3 am, someone placed a homemade bomb in a street nearby, completely random and we don't know who it was or for what absurd reason. The bang was loud, but fortunately there was no serious damage.

good things in here nobody is not allowed to hold fire weapons without permission. Even if there are criminals, they are usually more towards sharp weapons. So yeah I dared to stay out until 3am.

That's why I also take this into consideration when deciding which country I should choose while i wanna continue my study to another country.

They had a school shooting close to where i live like a week and a half ago and killed 11 people

These incidents are very unfortunate and it's sad that they keep happening in different places.

In my country similar incidents also occur especially in informal areas where fights break out between young people, not only with gunfire but also with bladed weapons like knives.

Even though i don’t feel afraid to go out at night my parents worry a lot about these things, which makes me more cautious.

I started to completely ignore these news, because it's always the same story and the same societal profile. It's almost always the same context, the same events in different places, but nobody asked where did they get their weapons, or how. There is no political actions taken and not even a wish to do anything.

As for me, I would not go out at night in Rennes or Nantes (and I won't mention how Nantes was safe when I was a child); but in Vannes or countryside, it's perfectly fine. I was also at night alone where you could even see women and at times children (when not too late) walking or biking. Same in Norway, strangely, no problem at all to wander at night in a city center. In French or German cities though? Or in Latin America? Oh boy, that's a stupid idea, especially if you are a woman.

It's illegal to carry a weapon with you in France, even a small knife actually, unless you have a very very good reason. Detaining a weapon of war, even at home, is also illegal of course, yet, some people own them and use them nonetheless. Like I said in another topic, you have countries like Switzerland where carrying a weapon is legal under strict circumstances, or even Norway where many people at least have a hunting rifle or practice sport shooting, and those are among the most peaceful countries in the world.

@Lianshen

I am not ignoring that news. I go to Brussels every month. and it is there that that happened. and I agree with you 100 percent, where do they get these illegal weapons from? In Belgium the law is like in France, you are not even allowed to have a knife in your pocket.

nope, ore atleast not for as far as i know, so im not yet scared to go out.

For me i would not be really afraid for shootings. And that is because there are shootings but only between criminals. BUTTTT in my country a MUCHH bigger problem are knives and a lot of people have them. That is super dangerous and they often have it because they want to protect themselves because OTHERSS have knives!! So it becomes crazy and they can use it against anyone. So if you are alone and there is a group with knives i dont think you can do anything.

@mayuuram In Belgium you are not allowed to have any weapons in your pocket, not even a knife. think carefully about where you are going to study

I guess each people have their way to deal with it. I know my family also check these news and have looked for what happens in Germany as well, but for me, from the moment I know things are not great in a place, I just take note of it. I prefer to focus my attention either on a news stating how things are getting better, which sadly doesn't really exist at the moment, or the global political environment that is the cause of people having to deal with shitholization.

The only moment things did get a little better was in Paris, for Parisians (not other French), during the Olympics games during which Paris became "liveable". Unfortunately, Parisians are a weird kind of species that cherish the causes and complain about the consequences; so they did not understand why it was so nice (basically what most of them would describe as fascism in normal circumstances) at that time and are simply nostalgic of the Olympic Games.
