Not really, but it doesn't feel very nice or safe in some areas. Brussels, since you go there often, was one of them; especially with night coming around bus station. I guess the only very nice place you'd have there is the parliament, because our leaders can't have any reality check π

@Lianshen yes before i even walk at night in brussels but nowdays when it is 17u im already inside and thats so sad because brussel is beautifull at night not only on busstation the trainstation also

I can imagine from the few I stayed. The kind of vibe Brussels gave me deter me and I just went to a mall directly (which I would have gladly avoided too; but I had to wait for a bus). Nantes and Rennes are the same unfortunately, around train stations during the day, and everywhere at night.
When I lived in Rennes, I only went to a welcome "party" to meet and talk to new classmates in a park where students often go at evening, things almost turned into a fight. Fortunately for me, I was drunk by that time and it allowed me to chill things down by just bringing the dude away from my classmates and spending hours with them instead, but I surely avoided all meetings afterwards π

In Belgium, there have been shootings at a metro station in the past 2 weeks by young people with weapons of war. there is one death and several injuries. it's probably a drug fight. what do you think of such situations? Does this also happen in your country? In Italy there are rarely shootings in the subway, I remember last year there was a shooting between rival Camorra clans outside the Naples station, more frequently some stabbings or assaults have happened throughout Italy

The mafia is still there but the type of earnings changes based on the area, if you go to Sicily or Campania they still extort in small shops. If you go to Northern Italy the mafia is infiltrated in commercial areas and they do not extort. Consider that in all of Italy the mafia is infiltrated in politics. Instead Ndrangheta is the only mafia that acts as a wholesaler of cocaine for all the other criminal organizations in Europe, the Mexican and Colombian drug cartels sell the cocaine at a discount to Ndrangheta and they resell it to all the other criminal organizations in Europe

So concerning my own experiment about shooting, well as I already told about in my own interview forum made by this dear Yueh, I used to be the direct witness of a massive one in 1993, the first day of my arrival in San Francisco : an unsatisfied client of an insurance company which sat n the downtown shot 17 people with an Ar 15 semi automatic gun ( an m16 war machine gun modifyed for civilian use ! ) in 3 minutes and I always remember being just in front of the husband of one of these poor victims and the poor man was interviewed by a black Journalist from local channel 8 who asked him how did he feel now after learning his poor wife got murdered with 3 shots in the head ( at that moment , I really would have liked to take the magnum 44 handgun of Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry movies and makes her day to that fool ! )

I started to completely ignore these news, because it's always the same story and the same societal profile. It's almost always the same context, the same events in different places, but nobody asked where did they get their weapons, or how. There is no political actions taken and not even a wish to do anything.
As for me, I would not go out at night in Rennes or Nantes (and I won't mention how Nantes was safe when I was a child); but in Vannes or countryside, it's perfectly fine. I was also at night alone where you could even see women and at times children (when not too late) walking or biking. Same in Norway, strangely, no problem at all to wander at night in a city center. In French or German cities though? Or in Latin America? Oh boy, that's a stupid idea, especially if you are a woman.
It's illegal to carry a weapon with you in France, even a small knife actually, unless you have a very very good reason. Detaining a weapon of war, even at home, is also illegal of course, yet, some people own them and use them nonetheless. Like I said in another topic, you have countries like Switzerland where carrying a weapon is legal under strict circumstances, or even Norway where many people at least have a hunting rifle or practice sport shooting, and those are among the most peaceful countries in the world.
Well in the US, there are more than 100 millionth of gun weapons which are owned by privates for a population of more than 339 millionth people : since 1934 , it is possible to buy freely there a war machine gun but it must be produced before 1986 which lets the chance to a single private to be the owner of very terrific and powerful war weapons like M16 , Ak 47 and 74 or Fal and Heckler and Koch G3 guns. In 1993 when I used to live in Central Calfornia , many people often used to spend time on the week end by shooting glass bottes in their garden and I used to practise this special kind of ball trop at that time with all sorts of handguns : p38 8mm, beretta 9mm ,colt python 357 magnum 11.43 and pumpgun 12mm the same used by schwarzenneger in Terminator judgement day ( I was invited and?I did it but it was really not my cup of tea ! )
