This day is about that it is allowed to love each other EVEN if you are not the same race. I think everybody is allowed to choose themselves. This is of course a very important day BUTTT i really hate seeing blood. Normally i dont faint but i REALLY REALLY hate it. One of the reasons i dont want to work in a hospital as doctor or nurse is this so that is why i like to become a medicine researcher. Keti Koti is a very important day in my country. It is also why i really wanted to write the list for today in this forum. It means broken chains but i dont know exactly in which language. It is the day that people think about the end of slavery which my country did. Because The Netherlands took alot of slaves from Africa to Middle and South America to work for example in the cotton fields. I am curious if others here believe in UFO's. For myself: I dont believe in UFO's like how they are in movies. But i think that there is some sort of life for example bacteria or small living things that are in space so those are also real UFO's. Although my political palate differs significantly from that of the current US administration (including JDV), the book was a fun and quick read of his personal memoirs of - according to the author - a culture in crisis. The book was a spontaneous purchase at an international airport. Armed with new Appalachian Hillbilly wisdom, I was ready for a smooth flight back home!

JD Vance is a very smart and humble guy. His speech at whatever European summit a few months ago really resonated with me. I was disappointed by his infamous performance with Zelensky at the White House though.

The entire circus act re Zelensky was an unapologetic disgrace. But I agree that JDV is an intelligent and also eloquent member of the current US administration. The mere fact that I do not always agree with his political views - or more generally the current agenda of the White House - does not change his accolades.

It is unfortunate that in polarized settings people often start to view the world in absolute terms. Any incongruences in beliefs often means a total elimination of characters on the other side of the political spectrum. This shatters the setting of any proper substantive debate. Not at all suggesting that this is your approach, but i made use of the occasion to get this out of my system.

Whatever your views from a political perspective, the book Hillbilly Elegy remains a fun read!
