    * if I become less responsive over the next couple months, please know, it isn't you it is me. I live a life homestead farming, very close to nature. This is when my overwhelming busy season begins every year. I will get back to you any chance I have. So bear with me.*

If you look into the distance, there's a house upon the hill
Guiding like a lighthouse, to a place where you'll be safe
to feel at grace 'cause we've all made mistakes.
If you've lost your way... I will leave a light on.

These song lyrics are at the heart and foundation of the small homestead farm I call home. I always leave a light on for anyone who needs it. It's my way of being in the world.

I am Amanda of Wildflower Farm. In my 40s, married, have a dog. live on and work a small self sufficiency farm, that provides most stuff I need, food, water, energy independence. I craft a lot as part of this lifestyle. A horse is my primary mode of transportation. A life goal for me, is to create a home that is an example of environmental friendliness where you don't lose modern amenities.

I read a lot and keep a blog. I enjoyed The Birth house by Ami Mckay, North Woods, and many other books. Just finished, The Powers Of Darkness an Icelandic destruction of Dracula. My next book is The Life List by Lori Nelson Spielman. I read many genres and manage a book club.

I hope to find a penpal here for long term correspondence. Partly to make a friend. Living in the middle of nowhere can be isolating and is necessary for farming. Would LOVE to find someone from a remote place, a science station in the arctic, The Faroes, some small barely inhabited island in the Hebrides, or off Ireland, or from anywhere. The hope is when we are old and grey we can still be writing to each other while at the old folks home in diapers, searching for our lost dentures. It would help me, if you can help me stay informed. The idiot some Americans put in power is beginning to gut our media's ability to keep us informed.

  • Meine größte Errungenschaft

In 2021 I finished my education in herbalism. I have also achieved partial education at university level in music and archaeology.

I largely feed myself. I keep goats for dairy, chickens for eggs, and large gardens outside as well as a greenhouse we eat from all winter.

I make most of what I wear and use for self care.

This one may be strange, but I consider it a great accomplishment NOT to drive. I don't have a license. I use a horse as my only mode of transportation. Because the climate matters to me.

My farm went solar a few years ago, again, because of climate concerns.

Studied permaculture again climate was at issue.

I make amazing sour dough bread from self milled wheat, and my granola is compared to crack by everyone who has ever eaten it.

I have lived in and traveled in many different interesting parts of the world over the span of my 44 years on this planet.
