Neither of you are close to the reality. First of all, Johnson however popular he can be in Ukraine, he will never become an Ukrainian citizen. I know, it's a crazy world but not so much yet. Second, Putin might die. Also not very likely scenario. Probably Biden will die sooner and Kamala Harris will become a president. What is scary too. And, anil, do you remember when Putin almost agreed that Russia will be part of NATO? What kind of reply he got? We don't need you in NATO! Now you can eat it. It's a good idea to create some kind of the USSR.
I do not wish for Putin to be sick that way that people are speculating. Having Kamala Harris becoming the US president would sound scary. She is lousy with her responsibility from what little I know about her. Two good guys and friends, the presidents of Venezuela and Cuba, Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro both met a progressive illness and Castro tried to hide it.
He becomes more and more mad and cruel but may be some of his friends are worst
Putin is kind, patient and did not want to fight at all ! In Russian there is an expression "do not wake the sleeping bear". That is exactly what happened! I would have responded harshly and cruelly to Ukrainian aggression 8 years ago in 2014! Why Ukraine did not move troops to the Crimea? Because there she would "get in the teeth"! Putin considers Ukrainians and Russians to be one people, otherwise the military operation would have ended by now.
I totally disbelieve these claims from Dombass. It's getting to be a pain to listen to. People shouldn't be ready to believe the Russian news against Ukraine as heartless people who are useless as a country when Russia has it dirty hand in this conflict directly and the US does not, having once been involved in these territories and not appreciating outside influences to it's former USSR glory. Russia is mis positioned to be an actor in making peace for it's own Russians across the border with Ukraine. Russia has too much at stake to lose politically in Ukraine and it's not a decent thing to be involved calling out a civil war in one of it's former Soviet States.
What about Ukraine's struggle for independence in the early 20th century?
"... the genocide and suppression that took place under Soviet rule—most famously the Great Famine. Holodomor, which fuses the Ukrainian words for starvation and inflicting death, claimed the lives of around 3.9 million people, or approximately 13 percent of the Ukrainian population, in the early 1930s. A human-made famine, it was the direct result of Soviet policies aimed at punishing Ukrainian farmers who fought Soviet mandates to collectivize. The Soviets also waged an intense “Russification” campaign, persecuting Ukraine’s cultural elite and elevating Russian language and culture above all others."
In 1943, the Bandera wing of the Organisation of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN-😎 and part of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) nationalist underground decided to “clean out the Polish element” to make sure that Volhynia would not remain part of Poland. the UPA units killed the Polish civilians with axes, rather than firearms, and tried to mobilise local Ukrainian peasants to assist in their actions. The brutality of killings, which made no exception for women or children, and involved torturing victims and the destruction of Catholic churches. Historians estimate around 60,000 victims among Volhynia’s Polish civilians, the majority of them – peasants. Then ethnic cleansing also spread to Eastern Galicia. and victims were up to 133,000.
This is also a part of Ukraine's struggle for independence. Why don't you mention it?

I think that Ukraine wanted back their country but then they saw the invading Germany as a partner to help liberate them from their other occupiers. Hitler used Ukrainians to fight against the other european nations as a tool turn against one another. And Russia was one of the occupiers.

So you simply justify making massacres and collaborating with evil for taking your country back?
Yes, diogenes_cask, it's a complicated matter. Yes, Hitler and Stalin divided Ukraine in 1940 I guess? I'm not sure. But it's not important. Nationalistic movement in Ukraine was before that. The problem is, West Ukraine always was leaning to the West, the East Ukraine mentally was part of Russia. Same thing with Jugoslavia. Is it excuse to start a war? It's crazy in any case. Europe is trying to become one unity, but these nationalists in Jugoslavia, Ukraine in some other countries are trying to fight with each other? What kind of logic is that? What they are trying to achieve? Why Europe is supporting them? Will Europe with the same force support division of Europe too? No, because it's not in the interests of Europe. Isn't it the answer? This thrust for "freedom" was nurtured by USA and Europe. That's why the West was against Russia to be a part of Europe. It's not about fare relationship of independent countries. It's about interests. And the nationalists are just simply puppets of important guys behind them. Somebody has to stop these bastards. And Putin does it.
Russia has changed since the ussr shut down im from usa but I believe the West is still in the 1960s mindset that russia will bomb anyone for land but russia has changed alot since then
DWeathers, what kind of wake-up call? Crimean people decided where they want to be. Period. Why you are at some point for Taiwan, but in the other case for Ukraine? Dkelley44 is right, somebody has to get out of nutshell of 1960s. Make peace not war!

Yes interesting question. They feverishly defend Taiwan's freedom against China but they become tongue-tied in the case of Donetsk and Luhansk Republics. I bet most of them can't even point Crimea in a world map let alone having some knowledge on Crimean history.

I know I'm in a adult conversation but I really think china and taiwan in with the Russian ukraine situation might just sparks a global problem witch can spark a war
Igor643, if we won't talk, we will fight! It's better to fight in virtual reality. DWethers, probably uses some kind of program to translate. And yes, Crimea wasn't the birth place of Russia, neither it is a birth of Ukraine. First there were Greeks I guess. So, shell we now fight with Greeks?
