Tbh i didnt know it myself until the teacher said it and i think almost nobody can guess it. But maybe smb here knows it already!!!
Michelangelo had initially depicted the fingers of God and Adam touching, but the cardinals insisted on a separation. For them, it wasnβt merely about aesthetics; it was a profound philosophical statement.
Godβs finger, they decreed, must always strive to its utmost extent, an eternal reach towards humanity. However, Adamβs finger should curl back slightly, representing the essence of human free will. For in the pursuit of the divine, it is the individualβs choice β the conscious extension of oneβs spirit β that defines the journey toward enlightenment.
That's far beyond being a masterpiece dressed by aesthetics only.
