I would like to show two paintings that are not my favourites but i saw them online and i want to understand how people look at them and maybe see things that i dont see yet (and maybe others too).

This painting is from Vincent van Gogh and is called Starry Nightin English. What I like of the painting is how a colour goes ino a different colour everywhere in the painting. And i like that it is not painted too specific bc you see more like the atmosphere and not like almost a photo. The colours make me bit unresty and tensed bc it is very dark the shadow of a building or I am not sure what it is. But that is very big on the painting and it is like something dark and you dont know EXACTLY what it is. The sky looks nice because for a night it is not very dark BUTTT it looks like a big storm so it feels for me super unresty like it will get worse soon. And I dont understand the moon bc it is round AND it is the half moon shape at the same time.

This painting is from Pablo Picasso and is called The Poet. I just dont understand this painting. My mom also does NOT understand it what he tries to do. So it looks like a broken mirror in very small parts but i cant see a person in it bc the shape is super weird. And i dont understand why he has chosen these colours. But the colours do go nice into each new colour. But it looks not human but like industrially what you can see.
I maybe WAYYY to late but omg I love Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh so much. I don't know what it is but it's fascinating. I have a small puzzle of it, and even as my "normal" Homescreen on my I pad so the background I use at home. And when I was younger and I saw this painting for the first time it was just stuck in my head for days and I always wanted to know how It would feel like being in one of his paintings (especially in Starry Night). I'd sell my sould so see this painting in real life one day. I sometimes even try to daydream about being inside that painting (when I have nothing other to daydream about I usually do this) and I always feel sad when I remember that Van Gogh died thinking he'd never be famous but now his paintings are worth millions. I think he even said it in his last letter to his brother before you know.. and I think he wrote something like "think I am a failure and that is the fate I have to accept" or something and it just makes me so sad. So looking at the painting it's a mix of a calming effect but also an unsettling feeling about the person behind the painting.

Absolutely beautiful how u write that Abby!! ππππ₯° I really love how u write what it means to u and what u feel about it!!! THATTT was one of the reasons why i made this forum so u understand how others maybe look at certain arts. I first was not completely sure if i should make it because maybe people think would be super nerdy or boring to talk about but i think if u LISTEN to how other people like art and WHAT they see and feel it can make art works that we talk about MUCH MORE special so u can see also from other ways to it. π I hope that others understand what i mean because it is super late and my head does not function super well now but it is exactly why i made this forum and how u write about this beautiful painting from Van Gogh!!! ππ If u would be in Amsterdam NOW i would take u to the Van Gogh museum that is in Amsterdam and hope that u really β€οΈ it!!! βπ₯°π«
