I beg to differ, Tulip! We can be good friends, even with differing views, so long as we respect (not accept) each others views. This will happen when we respect the person himself or herself.
I think that penpal relationship could be a lot of things, including sharing ideas! That's exactly what we're doing here.
So, I don't see any point as to why we need to stop talking politics in order to be friends with each other. 🙂
As for the Tibet problem, I think that the Dalai Lama sent his delegates for talks so violence could stop and a decision could be reached by peaceful means. He's old, but there must be people after him, who'll continue the struggle for a autonomous Tibet. (Or a free Tibet, if that's what they want. I DO KNOW the difference between the both, thanks!) 🙂
I Know there are many states in India are struggling for independence~ I'm glad that people there are struggling for free.
The Indian Government could not to suppress them because suppressing is not Democratic.
In this way,i support them with movements to get their freedom.

Since I know no one has decided to boycott the Olympics because the Dalai Lama doesn't want to do that, he trying to look for peace, and the Chinese thought he will make the peasants of Tibet to rise in protests and triggered the protests across China. Clifford, I think that there's a reason why some countries should boycott the 2008 Olympics in the same way as U.S. and U.S.S.R did for each other...
It's our business on the Tibet issue.Wonder if the Chinese people who are against Tibet independence have ever been to Tibet, or made friends with the people there?

i think every country have bad histories. Because the world turn for the monney XD. It's so sad but it's a reality. I think the JO was good for China and the chineses too, but the governement haven't a good ways! But for me, i was very sad when the chinese govenement doesn't want to speak with the Dalai Lama. Because he want a peace world, no violance but tibetans was violent in china. Then after this word i go to run XD.

First, I have to admit that the Olympics opening ceremony is fantastic ! But behind the other side of China, I see many problems there ... Tibet, the freedom of speech,unfair to Taiwanese people... They built the railway to Tibet to improve the economics which told by the China government.... Actually, because of the railway ,many Hans moved to Tibet , cause the Tibet culture vanished .... sorry I'm off topics

I'd be very happy if it was, indeed, true! I felt horrid for feeling sorry for my education problems, when I heard about my Chinese friend's school schedule.

I don't support violence but we've to be practical. Wars do happen! I'll ask you just one thing...What will ur govt. do if India or any other country invades China? Will it make sure that it doesn't kill any innocent civilians or children when it drops bombs??? How can you simply tell that the Tibetans are 'robbers and devils'? They are humans! They have families, hopes, emotions (including frustration and anger) just like you and me! Some humans turn violent too.
