It seems that Inter is slowing down in part due to fatigue? Liverpool won the Premier League title yesterday in a situation where it could exclusively focus on the League (after its early departure from the CL and both he FA and League Cup). Inter is active still in the CL with heavy opponents and the Serie A. Barcelona has the same risk (heavy battle to win the Copa in Spain and now in the final stretch for La Liga and the CL). Real will only have La Liga as sole focus and can catch up 3 points in the next Classico. Plus Real will have a strong appetite to secure at least one trophy.
Inter and Barcelona will have a stamina burden to succeed in Italy and Spain. It almost seems beneficial to drop out of some competitions (albeit that I do not expect teams like Real and Liverpool to have deliberately slimmed down their schedule).
Paolo/Esma-Nur/Simone: what is your view on this?
Io scrivo in italiano semmai traduci.... Ciao

@Savi2024 The things went exactly like you said. I support Inter, and i never thought we could win all the competitions, this year, maybe one or two. But i wanted the team not to leave behind the Coppa Italia, and fight for it like if it was as important as Champions League; instead, Inzaghi thought it was the best to do the turnover, and let Milan winning for free another derby, just to hope to win something else in the future, and i'm very disappointed with that. Doing turnover doesn't necessarily mean winning the following match and, like i thought, the team paid the loss for 0-3 in the derby, especially in terms of mentality. Now, i don't think we have a single chance to beat Barcelona, not only because they are stronger than us, but also because they, unlike us, beat Real Madrid and won the Copa del Rey, and their mood is surely higher than ours (and i it may also mean a lot). Maybe it would have been better if we didn't eliminate Bayern, because i think the team thought they were stronger than they actually are. And now we are not going to win anything this year.
Paolo: many thanks for your reply. Our laptops at work provide for automatically generated translations of most contemporary languages. Provided that you do not respond in Ancient Norse or Babylonian languages, I can understand you well and clear!
Paolo/Simone: I understand the disappointment of possibly not securing any titles by Inter. It remains a gamble to compete with full strength on all fronts. In current times this either means investing in substitutes on the bench which are on par with the main force or accepting an early elimination on some fronts with Team B. Even the youngsters of Barcelona seem to recognize that energy is of a finite nature.
What are your predictions for Arsenal-PSG this evening? Both teams are both unpredictable and can shuffle from 55-100 % of their abilities on any given day. Arsenal struggled with consistency the whole season. PSG has slowed down in the French league after winning the title.
And how is Donnarumma perceived in Italy? A national hero? Or a new member of the French Foreign Legion? In any case: a top class goalkeeper (top 3 on a global level).
1. FC. Schalke 04 🙂

Many thanks for your reply Paolo. Apologies for responding late, but my presence here depends on work and family (in reverse order)!
I am not surprised of PSG being significantly stronger than Arsenal. PSG can be sloppy at times where there seems to be little at stake (eg now in the French League where the title has already been secured). But players can swap to high gear football immediately thereafter.
The background of Donnarumma joining PSG was unknown to me. Your comment on players becoming mercenaries is somewhat similar to remarks of Van Basten on Dutch television regarding commercial motives replacing sportive endeavours. With Van Basten on your side, you seem to be in good company!
Congrats Simone on the Inter draw against Barca yesterday. Still an uphill battle in Milan facing a hungry Catalan squad, but home advantage must count a bit. Denzel Dumfries was unstoppable. Hopefully, he will remain free of any further injuries in the coming weeks.
Commentary on Dutch television was provided by Wesley Sneijder! Hopefully he has not yet been forgotten by the Nerazzurri!

Thanks Savi, we used to call it "Pazza Inter" here, because you can never know how they will play, and everything can happen during a match with Inter, both in positive and negative way (in terms of results). I'm very happy for the performance we had against Barcelona and, if we play like that in Milan, we can beat them. But, whatever it will happen, i would be proud of the team's path in Champions League, in any case! Sadly i can't say the same for Coppa Italia...
What team do you support by the way? I follow Eredivisie as well (only the results) @Savi2024
Many thanks Simone. The next CL leg in Milan can be anyone’s game. Hopefully, the latest injury concerns regarding Lautaro Martinez will turn out to be unfounded.
In general, my favourites are Ajax, Barcelona and Liverpool. As regards foreign teams my support naturally follows individual (often Dutch) players. I will be glad to read that Dumfries did well for Inter or that Reijnders scored another goal for AC Milan. The same with Frenkie de Jong at Barca and the Dutch squadron at Liverpool. What about you? And Paolo: any other team that can count on your support other than AC Milan?
@Savi2024 I know Ajax is coming from some difficult past seasons, but it seems they are going to win again; of course is not (yet) the same Ajax that reached the semifinals of the Champions League in 2019, but i hope they will back to be competitive in Europe as well. And let me guess, do you dislike Feyenoord, as dutch team? 👀 I follow many other european football championships, surely all the most important ones. Out of Italy, i like Olympique Lyonnais (France) and Olympiacos (Greece), while in Italy i also like Sassuolo, that is already promoted to Serie A again, after a season in Serie B.
Thanks Simone. I was a fan of Ajax in the 90s and of the later squad with Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt. Sovereign wins of youngsters with an attitude in the CL against Real Madrid and Juventus were magic! And no disliking of Feyenoord! I admire teams which may not be on par on a technical level, but remedy any shortcomings with a genuine fighting spirit and a “the winner takes all” mentality. Teams like Liverpool in the past had a similar mentality. Gladitorial football!
To both Simone and Paolo: If Martinez is injured and Dumfries neutralized it will be a real challenge for Inter. Kounde seems to be missing the return match. The matches in La Liga and the Serie A this weekend will also be relevant for morale and possible injuries.
Congrats on Sassuolo’s promotion to the Serie A Simone! And fingers crossed for Fiorentina against Betis Paolo!
I agree with Paolo’s assessment of Napoli winning the league if Lecce is beaten (albeit that both of you are much more equipped to make such an assessment).
Have a good weekend gentlemen!
Barca struggled with the sudden change of speed and the space in between lines. Frenkie de Jong had a difficult match against Inter. If he can pick up his pace he will be a crucial factor. I understood that Kounde may be injured. Not sure whether Martinez’s injury will prevent him from playing. Whatever the outcome may be, it will likely be decided on the side of the pitch mentioned by you: Inter’s attack vs Barca’s defense (taking into account that Barca will likely score at least once or twice).
