Well, in my country on New year we eat grapes, ALSO WE EAT “ROSCÓN DE REYES” it’s a kind of pastry that can be of cream, chocolate inside… and inside there is a small doll or depends on which one u buy, and if u get the slice with the doll u have to pay for the roscón for everyone hehe

2️⃣ Can you skate on ice? And if not: do you want to learn it?

Well, some years ago I went to skate on ice with a friend and more or less I managed to stay upright AHHAHAHAH

3️⃣ Did you ever go on wintersport? And if yes what do you like the most abt it?

YEAHHH! I have a Christmas tree on my house and we put it just a few days before Christmas Day hehe

I celebrate it with my familyyy, we have some special meals my dad cooks that are deliciousss

Nahhh, I’m not the kind of person that gets cold easily so I don’t have much blankets only one, and I drink from a normal plastic cold water bottle hehe

I love Christmas songs! Mostly the ones that are of jazz, they have beautiful lyrics

Well, I heard that in Germany they have a type of market that is specialized in Christmas things, tho I don’t remember the name, but I once saw a phot of it and I think it’s beautiful

4️⃣ Yes! We put up a New Year tree and garlands, we decorate the staircases. In our family like 10 days before I think, and well in all sorts of stores it's 3 months before. 🤯🤯 I think that's too much. 🎄🎄

5️⃣ Both New Year and Christmas we always celebrate with family) 🥂✨✨ yes, there are special dishes. Basically for New Year we only eat them 🌝🌝

Hot cocoa for most, but personally I have some all year round.

Yes, but I'm definitely not a professional figure skater or one of those super fast hockey players.

I've played hockey with my family and skied with my school(in the school backyard though, we didn't go to a mountain or anything). I don't really like it, it's too cold and takes too much effort while not giving much pleasure.

No, because my family doesn't celebrate Christmas and we don't want others to think we do. We sometimes decorate the inside of the house for Hanukkah, but not much.

No, but we have special pastries for Hanukkah called sufganiyot(which are delicious).

No. We give gifts for Hanukkah and play dreidel, sometimes we visit friends or things like that. But we don't travel, it's a holiday we celebrate at home.

From 2 to 3 blankets, and I use a normal water bottle. I love when my water is freezing cold anyway, and it's not going to freeze into an ice block unless I leave it outside for a long time.

I don't like them because some are too catchy and get stuck in your head. And when you think you're finally rid of the song, BOOM, it's back in your head!

Well I'm from the Netherlands like you so you'll know but since I didn't see you answer the questions yet, I thought I could!

1/ In the Netherlands a true winterspecial is stoofpeertjes! They're a different sprecies of pear and I love them! You make them by leaving them to simmer in a kind of wine spiced with cinnamon, cloves and other spices like those!

In my home we usually eat them as main dish and if we have any left we'll make a dessert out of them with whipped cream! Obviously we also drink hot cocoa but I don't think that's typical of the Netherlands.

2/ I can skate! It's sad that the natural ice in the natural is almost never strong enough to skate on.. I don't own any skates though, I wanna test the different kinds this winter, you can rent them at the local ice-skating rink.

3/ I haven't but my little brother went with friends, I think personally I'd like the hot cocoa and reading by the fire most 😅

4/ Yes! But ours is a fake because no one in my family likes cleaning up! I think we usually set it up after Sinterklaas so probably like halfway through December! We also hang lights from my balcony but that we start when it gets dark early! Not this year though, there's been some renovating going on so we'll hang them when that's done.

5/ We don't really celebrate New Year's Eve anymore because since a few years the fireworks have just become loud instead of pretty.. we do eat oliebollen though!

I o6/ Yeah so you mentioned the New Year's Dive, so there's that but there's also a whole array of music and ballet on the tv! And we use tackle the Christmas tree down!

7/I have 3, one normal duvet, one heavy blanket and one of those blankets usually found on the couch that I wrap around my shoulders! And sometimes I add a hot water bottle before heading to bed so it'll be even warmer!

8/ I sometimes like the songs but I won't listen to them of my own accord!

9/ I LOVE SNOW as long as I'm inside with a hot drink!

10/ I think you covered just about everything! Maybe if people celebrate the holidays at school?

Yes Dutch ppl eat also for example stamppot and erwtensoep:

We dont really eat it at our home bc my mom makes mostly only Asian food. But Dutch food in the winter is HEAVY!!!!!

Yes but not super fast or with tricks!!! And in the beginning you sometimes slip or fall on your butt. But that is for others too so it is not super embarrassing. Now almost never you can skate outside on ice bc it is not thick enough. But you can ice skate indoor.

3️⃣ Did you ever go on wintersport? And if yes what do you like the most abt it?

I never went on wintersport. Stassyyyy @PinkiePie that means that you go for example to Austria to ski in the snow on mountains. 🙂 But i would like to learn it but my parents dont really like it bc it is too cold. And i would like to learn to ski not snowboard.

Yes like @Freija_ajierf said mostly after Sinterklaas which is super Dutch. So for example on 6 December. And ppl in our street sometimes laugh bc my dad is Chinese BUTTT we have one of the most decorated houses in the street with lights outside and things like that. But they think it is funny. 🙂

5️⃣ Do you celebrate New Year's Eve with family or friends? And do you have special pastries or snacks in the evening or drinks for the New Year?

With family always. My uncle and aunt live super close so they come to celebrate with us and have dinner and stay until 1 in the night of the new year's day.

Ok so one tradition is the New Years dive and ppl wear Unox hats like you see on the link above. And they jump in the Northsea at Scheveningen but that is super cold. I am not sure but @Freija_ajierf maybe you know it but i think they eat soup from Unox after it bc they sponsor it. ANDDD ppl often visit family bc most ppl are free on that day and for us it is still in the school vacation.

ANDDD we always watch back the Christmas show of All you need is love 🥰❤️!!!!!! That is really cool so for example if you are a couple and one lives super far away they secretly fly back that person and they bring that person to celebrate Christmas in The Netherlands or in another country where they both go!!! And the show is really nice but it is really fun to watch it together with my mom and aunt bc they have comments about EVERYTHING!!!!! And that is really funny!!!

We have now the thick winter blankets and that is already very warm. We also have fleece blankets if you want that but now i dont really use them yet. And i do have an electronic hot water bottle that you can use to warm the bed but i dont really use it now and want to wait until it really freezes outside.

8️⃣ Do you like the Christmas songs in shops and radio or do you get crazy with them? And if you like them: which do you like the most?

Normally on the radio or in shops they have the same 20-40 songs that you hear the MOST!! Like All I want for Christmas and Last Christmas and others. But i dont really get fed up bc we dont really listen to them at home so if you are in shops and hear them it is nice. Bc it is only during winter time around Christmas so i dont mind it at all.

9️⃣ Which place do you think is the most beautiful to spend winter? Like a place with the most snow or a sun vacation?

I would like one time to visit Finland and go to the place with the MOST snow in nature and that you have a glass iglo hotel and see the northern light. But i guess it is like -20 degrees or smt like that. 🙄🙄

YESSSSSS!!!! I used to like the most the small lights EVERYWHERE and the most when it is dark outside. But now i like the most that we are free at school and be with family at home and you DONT have to worry abt homework and tests and it is not really stressy at all but just time to relax and be together and talk A LOTTT!!!

Why do you hate the winter?? 😛 😛 I know it is cold BUTTTT it is also nice bc of Christmas and New Year. I cant escape winter bc school and in the vacation we dont go i think bc we have a LOTTT of tests after the vacation. That is really annoying bc in our school it is almost after every vacation that you have like test week. So you are free in your vacation BUTTT you also have to study for it. 😕😵‍💫😵‍💫

I don't like winter that much. It's dark, cold, often rainy or snowy and you have to wear so many clothes to keep a bit warmed.
