My 17th day here at PPG and the second round has begun. These have been
interesting and busy days. I love moments that stretch out and continue on
for a while. Ultimately, things are relaxed here on our platform and, all in all,
there is a great deal of mutual respect.

Our interests are completely different, and that's exactly how it should be.
Sometimes, almost everyone overshoots the mark... but for me, that's per-
fectly fine. Penpal Gate is an almost self-organising 'organism'... a virtual
entity that brings people from different back-grounds and orientations
together in a protected space.

Etienne and his 'helpers' have really achieved something wonderful.
BUT remember, we members keep this platform alive. Diversity is great!

The approaches and ideas regarding the friendships that are forming here
are as diverse as the people themselves. There are probably members who
tend to collect friends or who perhaps don't take the number so seriously.

For me personally, this little window has real significance. But of course, a
friendly connection can take many different forms. What is certain is that
I give everyone freedom and that the friendship notification must be con-
firmed over time. Some souls also check in advance whether 'something'
will develop... . Well, that's how I proceeded in my first round, too.

This is what I like:

If we should become 'friends' we will have a great time but we will not just
eat cherries. I am direct and honest. Respect is ALWAYS given ... be yourself.
In doubt? ... Just ask.

I respect, privacy BUT ... I like to know the FACE of my 'friend'. It has not be
shown out in the open but you have to present yourself. We can 'like' each
other and don't have to be 'friends'. If we are, we trust in each other that
much... . My Profile-Photo is always up-to-date.

LIKES: Well, I 'like' people and sometimes they don't 'like' me back. That
is something in life happens, too. A 'Like' can have several meanings, and
if it is mutual, then, in my case, there is also an exchange.

MY PROFILE is indeed a presentation of me. ONE EXCEPTION. Everyone
can see that I am not a girl and eighteen. Beyond that, I consider (my) age
to be irrelevant ... not just here. Age is NO GARANTY for wisdom!

A meaningful Letter is something special. Names must provided...

Hallo,
I have a lot of different friendships:
with people form my rowing club,
with neighbours and old schoolmates.
All of them are nice and....
we can have a nice time with each other!

BUT:
For me a deep friendship has another quality!
It is a connection with someone I can be sure about,
that this person stands by me, without any expectation!
Someone, that loves me so much,
that he or she is able to tell me the truth,
to give me real and helpful support!
Somebody, I know about, he or she will
always be there for me!

The eyes of these kids are so clear!
They are looking honestly, curious,
open minded and maybe a little bit shy!
Photographs, that are so charming!

First i want to say that i think that @Etienne has now not really helpers bc always if smt happens he does it alone. So i think everything from PPG he made it. I have to check it how old PPG is bc i think he said it in his interview on the forum. 🙄🙄 I will check the interview and write it later below. 🙂

For me i think friendships on PPG are different than irl. Bc if for example smb sends an invite on PPG normally i always accept it. That way is nicer i think bc if you decline that is maybe rude. But i chat with maybe 20 ppl the most from them and sometimes a lot and sometimes only after some time and slower. But all of that is ok!! 😊😇😇 And one of the BIGGEST differences for me with friends from irl is that here friends i chat with here a lot are VERY different. So in school or with ballet or who live close to my house my friends are the same in a lot of ways like what we talk or do or like or bc smt happened at school and you can talk abt it a LOTTT. And sometimes for example when i make a forum it is what i talked abt with friends at school and i have NO idea if ppl here will like it too or that they just think it is weird or that you are crazy.

But here for example i have friends who are very different like from different countries or who are lot older or who do different things and that is nice bc it is really different than friends from normal life. And almost everything is in English!!!! 😃 But i think BOTHHH types are friends bc it depends always if they are important to you. And if yes i think that you can say that both are friends. 🌸⭐❤️

For me, I think, friendships on PPG are different than in real live....

It's wonderful to find a nice letter, a short note or a new entry in a post
first thing in the morning....


Yue has mentioned a few important points, and yes, some of the friends
here in our Penpal Gate are very different from those in our immediate
social circle. It also seems perfectly natural to me that with such large
age differences, as between Yue and me, for example, the definition of
FRIEND can be quite different in general. For me, this applies in
particular to 'friendships' here in Penpal-Gate.

I currently have two friend requests flashing on my profile. Both members
profiles contain no information whatsoever. Not true ... they have a photo.
There has been no exchange so far. When I receive friendship requests like
this, I write a few welcoming and friendly lines to the member, and now I
can also add the link to this post... one of my reasons for writing this post.
So far, I haven't received any replies to my message... but then again, the
members haven't been online since I contacted them.

I am happy to receive such requests, but without any exchange, it would
feel strange or awkward to me if the members appeared on my profile as
FRIENDS. For me, the label 'FRIEND' reflects a connection, an exchange
and a mutual, real interest in each other. I would therefore consider it
dis-respectful to my existing friends to treat them as equals, with those
requests. Of course, they receive the same level of friendly openness
and respect.

I think this clearly shows how my mind works. I consider it a kind of
'honour' or at least a real compliment to be listed as a FRIEND on
someone's profile. I do a lot to live up to this 'honour'. I guess you
could say, I am a 'Samurai' that way... 🙂

Thank you very much!! 🙏🙏 I actually mean that i accept from invites mostly bc i think maybe if i dont do that it is rude and i dont mind it. But i dont accept bc you want to have many friends bc that is not important i think.

But i meant real friends in normal life and here in different way so not EVERYBODY who sent invite that i accepted but persons im close with so it is actually like three groups. So friends in normal life and friends from here on PPG and ppl i accepted invite. 🙂 Sorry if it is super confusing but i think this way it is maybe the nicest for everybody!!! But it can maybe also be different depending on every person what they like and not. 🙂

Here on PPG are as many definition as members. That's great.
At the latest when you communicate you will know and can
decide. For me the Friends-Sign is 'just' the cherry on the
cake. Communication is King!

And from time to time our 'rules' do not apply, anyway.... 🙂

True friendship is an incredible gift ... and it's very rare.

Is there a universal definition for it? I don't think so, ... but there are
certainly some fundamental aspects that can be found in every true
friendship: Respect, Desire-To-Do-Things-Together, Mutual Trust....

Friends are NOT afraid to tell & show each other what they feel. Yes,
sometimes even if it hurts. Children live that..... 🙂
