"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." What does this have to do with being gay? Are you in charge of deciding how this passage must be interpreted?

From a Christian perspective, everyone has broken - and will break - God's laws. When Jesus died on the cross, he "became sin for us"; this means he personally carried every single sin. In Christianity, through this act, there is a path to forgiveness. Stay with Jesus.

People who know the Bible by memory scare the s**t out of me 😂

I don't know the whole thing from memory, there are just some parts that I like 🙂

Is lesbianism considered a sin?

If so, how to live if you're a lesbian but a Christian? Drop everything and live alone or with a guy like all normal people?

Thank you in advance

I am asking my apologise first of all because I am not a Christian. I was just curious about this topic, that's why I wrote here. Forgive me @Kotyaka2023 🙏🙏

  • I don't know anything about the Christianity and I am not going to talk about it anyways. But this is something with people's feelings. If we can live with the person we love most that would be a happy life instead of living like a stranger with someone you never supposed to be loved. In my opinion love is love. No matter even it is a girl or a boy. If there is mutual trust between two people, that is the real love. I am not a part of LGBTQ+ community but I always see the things in a critical manner. If your intentions are good, there is no wrong of loving the person that your heart choose.

I don't know whether does this helpful to you @Kotyaka2023 🥲🥲 However I wanted to represent my opinion.. Thank you ❤️❤️

I am a Catholic Christian and I will answer you honestly. 🙂 Maybe it is not the answer you wish to hear, but I am sure you want to learn the truth and truly follow the law of God which He gave us in His eternal love. Yes, everything God tells us, comes from His divine love. He is love.

1) Homosexuality itself is not a sin - as long as you don´t live it (physically/relationship). The tendency is not a sin. Only the sexual actions are considered a sin. Let me try to explain:

2) Only in a valid marriage, we are allowed to share intimacy. The intimacy as an expression of love for a married couple. All sexual actions without being married are sin. Also for hetero couples.

3) The first and most important purpose of marriage is the fertility. All sexual actions have to be open for the fertility. (No contraception, no practices that exclude fertility in itself.) So, "homosexual" actions are infertile in themselves, they are sin and forbidden for both hetero and homosexual couples. It is sin.

-> All sexual actions should be open for the fertility (also among hetero couples) - if they are not, it is a sin according to the Catholic doctrine. The intimacy is only allowed in the marriage.

4) Homosexual tendencies during puberty often disappear later again.

5) I can immagine how difficult it must be and it is surely a hard cross to carry for those who have this tendency. You can have platonic same-sex friendship and this wont be a sin. Live chaste and keep your heart pure 🙂 Maybe it is your vocation to consecrate your life in virginity and dedicate your life to God? This could be a very noble, Catholic solution. Put the intention into prayer and take time. Ask a good priest for advice.

To summarize: the tendency is not a sin according the doctrine. You can be a great Catholic and Christian - and a homosexual tendency is not a barrier. You can even become a saint! Just avoid the sexual actions which are sin. The Holy Sacraments (especially Holy Confession) can be a great help on this way. God bless!

If this is what the rule is in Christian faith i respect that but some people think it differently about what Christianity says and they posted above. So if a lot of people think different about it from the same religion it is difficult to know which is right and which is not right. I am not a Christian so i cant say anything about that. But what the rule may be i respect that is the rule.

But if what you wrote is right: i will respect it BUTTTT i will not follow that as religion. I am not a Christian bc i know too little of it and the same is of other religions except Buddhism. I think if people love each other and want to live that way and not only think that way there is nothing wrong with it. They love each other so that is REAL love. And if a person thinks that is bad i think that is against love. Bc they love each other and nobody does any wrong in that relationship bc what can be wrong about love? And if a God is against that in any faith than i think that is not about love too. Bc how can anyone or anything be against love if nobody else is hurt?

We have a lot of times discussed this in our society class last year. And people think really different a lot of times about this. And i think that is important and everybody should respect what a religion says even if people dont agree. But if it is my choice: i would only follow a religion that respects all love. So if two people who are female or two people who are male love each other that is love too and nobody is hurt. I am not homosexual but i know ppl here who are on PPG and i want to support them too. And i know also in real life persons who are that way but they will not read this forum i think. But i also want to support them.

And about sexual things: i think it is not a sin if is before marriage. I dont want that now NOT bc it is a sin or bc i believe that it can only be after you marry. But just bc i dont want it now and i am not ready for that at all. But that is smt different i think. But i know ppl here and also at school who do want that and i think if it is abt love in a relationship they dont do anything wrong. BUTTTTT i also think that if you dont want it and are NOTTTT ready for it: everybody must also respect that bc i think that is at least the same important.

Sorry for writing a lot but it is just how i feel abt it and i wanted to share that. I am NOTTT saying that you are against love but just what i think is important for me and what i think is real love and that should always be supported and not be against it in any way.

@Kotyaka2023 Maybe you could repent and tell God that you are not strong enough to fight off the desires and ask for forgiveness. If it is a sin that is hard for me to control that is what I would say. Sorry if this sounds rude I do not mean to be but if you still love God and want to follow Christianity then repentance is best for you and beg for forgiveness.

Why do you all Christians believe that you have all the answers and the right to tell people how to live their lives? It seems to me that you're just giving your opinions... Do you wear clothes with two different materials? In the Bible it's considered a sin but you always choose what to follow and what not.

Who are you addressing?

I wrote "all Christians"

I wrote "all Christians"

yes you put "you all" did you say this because of what I said?

Not to you in particular, I was just addressing the plethora of nonsense I read.

Ohhh ok, 😅

Sorry I thought you were talking about me. And I'm like "but I am not even Christian"

I think that there is not even one religion where everybody believes the same in that religion. Bc everybody can think differently abt what things mean. And i dont think that is a problem. Bc in my religion Buddhism even the Buddha himself said that he can be completely wrong. So you always must try to think abt what is right and good and try your best.

If you do good and if you try your best to be nice and good and if that is still not enough in a religion, than I dont want to be in that religion. I cant believe that love is a sin in any way if it is nice and kind and nobody is hurt. And if i am wrong abt that than i prefer to stay a Buddhist like others in my family (not everybody bc my dad does not believe any religion).

If you love somebody and be kind and try really your best to be a good person, that should always be good and not a sin. I hope that i dont offend anybody but that is just what we believe in my family.

Okay, I'm Christian.

Generally it is so - yes, it isn't moral okay. So, yes - it's a sin. But... God loves every people and hope for theirs good choices. So, it isn't a sin you're lesbian or you're gay, but it's a sin if you "practice". As long you're just lesbian/gay, it isn't a sin. But if you have lesbian/gay s.e.x., it is sin.

I hope I explain it well. 🙂

Arsenia @Kotyaka2023 i hope that you are happy and that you live a good life in the way you want!! And if ANY religion or ANY person does not think that is good enough bc it would be a sin, maybe think abt if that religion and that person is right for you. As long as you try your best to be good and love the way YOU want without hurting anybody, I think that any religion that would say it is a sin is a religion that may not be good for you. I would only choose a religion that says that any love is good as long as you dont hurt another person and you try your best to be a good person. But you should choose that for yourself and nobody else should choose that for you. I hope that helps a bit!!! 🙏🙏🥰🥰🥰

I totally agree with you @Yue_

And @Kotyaka2023 please just live your life and don't feel guilty!

In short. Like every self-respecting atheist, I have read and studied the entire Bible and all the Testaments. I can confidently say that most people who haven't even opened the Bible respond to you, and they simply hate everyone. So here's the thing. The Bible doesn't mention anything about orientation. In other words, you can love anyone as your neighbor. It specifically states that sexual intimacy with someone of the same gender is considered a sin. But the funny thing is that it was previously written that intimacy between spouses is also a sin, so their child is committing this sin and needs to be forgiven. So it is not written in the Bible that being LGBT is a sin.

Lutheran here. Everyone Interprets religion and god in theyr own way like for example protestant religions in a more wider scale and humans as individuals. There are many opinions regarding your question. Some belive that the identity itself is not a sin but the act is and some belive that we were told to love eachother and there should be no exceptions and many more opinions. Its your choice on witch one of those you choose to belive. And remember. Nobody can tell you how to belive in god not a priest not your parents or your friends. Religion is ment to be about you and your relationship in god.
