I had to look it up but apparently it's been prohibited since 2018. I would be surprised if it was actually enforced though, not much is enforced in France aside from taxes they dutifully collect 😅️

We also ban the phone on pen pal gate. When we write, we keep the phone turned off. Do you agree @Etienne?😁

As most of you know, I am a physiotherapist.
In my short time with my patients (about 20 minutes)
I see my chance to help them to relax and focus on their
nature. A lot of them sense that my way of approaching healing
is different. It`s like they manage to be out of the daily rat race.

A call from their cellphone just destroys this atmosphere.
The most of them just put on their "stress coat" again and go
on like before. Habit is strong.

better to turn off the phone during the session

"The cell phone is defined by a single word, but in reality it includes many things, this is one of the reasons why it can be both useful and harmful. I see it as a Trojan horse for the control of minds and customs (but it would be more correct to talk about "sugar" instead of "foods that contain sugar")"

I agree @Giorgio_Siciliano and @Pennarossa2024
I could, and probably will in the future, ask my patients to leave their cell phone at home, in the car or at least turn it off. But most of them will not be aware of the harm it can do or/ and don`t want to hear about it.

I am not a child. So yes, I remember those times well. I don't think most folks children and adults could survive more than 2 hours without phones and internet.

I am most of the way off the grid. A well, a septic tank, solar power, which is how I am on the internet. Sometimes I turn it off for a few days. Because I think we over use it and the way we live on it isn't healthy or natural. Not just the kids, but all of us. I find it useful.

I don’t really know, since I grew up during the 2010's in the decade when cell phones really began do develop and people really started to always own one or always talk about it.

Though I remember when I was in kindergarten during the late 2000s and early 2010s, some people used to have keyboard phones only. I really wonder how the 90s or the early 2000s, or even the decades before looked like when people didn’t necessarily live with a phone or any technology. My parents also tell me about life without cellphones, and it seemed so simpler back then. I almost feel nostalgic to a period I never experienced. It feels weird 😅😂

Today, I have to admit that I am worried. Almost everything is digitalized and configurated into people’s cellphones. It seems they want people to get dependant of it. Now you can shop, order online, and do even more and more administrative procedures. For me, the problem is what might happen if these systems fail to provide the data we need most...

@Etienne I agree with you 😅🥲 I can confirm it is not really enforced in high schools 😂 on the contrary, until I finished high school a few years ago, some teachers were even asking us to use it at school (for work purposes but still). Though if they saw you with it in the halls or in the courtyard they would indeed confiscate it to you.

But still it shows that people are becoming more and more dependent of phones.

If a school tried to take my kid's phone away, that would be my kid's last day attending.
Phones, are a safety device. One that can be abused. One that if abused should result in some pretty steep punishment. Especially when abused in school.
But I strongly believe every child should have one with them at all times. If there is a problem with it's missuse during class when there is no emergency, talk to a parent. I would hope all parents would be ready to counter that behavior with strong punishments.
But having a camera and the ability to video, can help protect and or prove bullying or any other dangerous thing kids come across over the course of their day. It can alert to a sudden weather disaster or some other disaster. It can be used to dial an emergency number in a crisis.
Kids should never be without a phone. They should however be taught when it is and isn't appropriate to be using it. Class time when there is no emergency is NOT the time.

I agree with you. Its good to have a cell phone but never for everything. Kids should learn to play with other kids and enjoy...and use the phone only when its needed
