Both the people of mainland China and Taiwan hope for a peaceful return. As for the liberation of Taiwan, there is no possibility of even using reserve forces, so I am unlikely to be involved in the war unless Western countries such as the United States want to intervene and trigger World War III.

I honestly don't see the coherence when some people admit that Taiwan is managed by a different government, which mainland has no regard in (contrarly to HongKong for instance, where the CCP is omnipresent), if it's to claim that Taiwan then is an inalienable part of China.
It's like saying that Ireland is part of UK or Wallony/Belgium part of France because they belonged to UK/France, have seen their culture and even population changed by those countries.

Also what kind of territory belong to a country yet prepare to defend against it in a military way?
