China seems like a jealous country that wants it's claim to the territory of the small independent state of Taiwan because China saw it's name on it in the past. China thinks what goes on in China, stays in China, even if that means an insurrection to topple it's government from power and run them into an island standoff as a hostage. These CCP loyalists never owned China and let alone Taiwan and China's former government as they never minded the Island of Taiwan anyway, until recently when the CCP has begun to grow stronger, and they now want more power and to "crush" the resistance. These people have a very old culture of a one leader and everybody must follow the leader or be called subversive.

China in the modern world becoming a superpower feels embarrassed the Taiwan was once "theirs" and now is a political ally to the West and had not done anything about influencing them right close to home. Taiwan puts America's ideas in China's arena because Taiwan thinks that China stinks. China wants to have it's growth in business so that their army will grow nice and strong so that they can now run the story on how the world sees them. China was a small country who's had been bullied and occupied, now they've gotten big and bringing their toys of war with them to pay back as the bad boy they've become in the world classroom.

Taiwan is not an independent country. For both mainlanders and Taiwanese, reunification is the best option. The Kuomintang government is a backbone government, and it impresses me (I am a communist), at least not as much as the DPP rejects the same thing today!

Taiwan is illegal republic. It's just some Chinese guys, which are very self-assured. Legally, Taiwan always was a part of China. China did not let it go. And wiki isn't a good place to search for information, just 'cause there everybody can say everything, everybody says his own words.

Taiwan is a part of China, but it's an independent part of China. Question is how they gonna settle this dispute? There is only two ways - peacefully or not. Which way you like? The problem is that West is trying to make things worse. It's in the interest of the West make it bad! But why? Anybody thought to make the reunion peaceful? No! Everybody is trying to make it difficult! Why? Why we are all for or against it? What is wrong if Taiwan is going to be a part of China? And why everybody thinks that China is necessarily will try to overtake Taiwan? Is it a fact or only our imagination?

What history? It has been a land of tribal people with settlement of Hans for a while, more or less like Greeks in Sicily, then the last loyalist of the Ming dynasty settled there when the Manchu took mainland China before losing to them, again. Later, Taiwan became, once again, the place where losers escaped from mainland.
China could have taken the island by force, but didn't do it so far and explicitly said many time that they wanted to end the civil war "peacefully" (read not by military means; not by would truly peaceful means).

You say that US is around Taiwan and in Pacific, and that's what is firing up the region and would eventually push China to speed up the process of reunification by launching a military intervention before that the US could really do anything, just like in Ukraine. This kind of intervention would benefit onot only mainland China but the US as well - like in Ukraine again, simply for the fact that the world would have issues with importation, not from wheat or gas, but from chipsets and shit.

Visibly, you took your 10mg pill of propagandine everyday before sleeping for quite a few years to think that the US is and will protect Taiwan or to believe that China is "muh muh socialism, baduuuh"... Not it's not. The problem lies in a remnant civil war that would exist with or without the US. The US just makes it worse. The US and Europe gave you all the keys (thanks to the retardation of their leaders) to rebuild China and to make it the next superpower... How then did the US disturbate China's development when it, in fact, promoted it unvoluntarly and agains the advices of our ancestors?

Please, don't mention that the US has been such a bad country for bombing Japan when China has so many issues with that country and is probably more than glad that it got spanked this way... That sounds like a ridiculous excuse.
