Beh ovviamente non dico che lo vincerà di sicuro, è presto per fare pronostici del genere, ma sicuramente se può ambire a vincerlo! L'Inter è forte sulla carta, ma la squadra ha già dimostrato di avere difficoltà nei match che contano, e non sono sicuro che il Milan, questo Milan, sia inferiore. Anche il Napoli mi sembra avere una rosa migliore rispetto a quella del Milan, ma domenica lo avete meritatamente battuto con un uomo in meno per quasi un tempo, e questo significa che potete giocarvela con chiunque in Serie A. Il Barcellona è forte ma secondo me ci sono squadre più complete, se in questo momento dovessi puntare tutto su una squadra come vincitrice della Champions direi di nuovo Real Madrid, ma ovviamente tutto potrebbe succedere. Non vedo invece alcuna squadra inglese favorita per la vittoria finale, il Liverpool mi sembra tutt'altro che imbattibile, il Man. City non è lo stesso rullo compressore di qualche anno fa. Arsenal forte, ma ci sono squadre migliori.
Te lo dico io Paolo, devi essere contento, perché non si può vincere sempre, perché un pareggio in casa della Juve non è mai da buttare e perché la squadra ha fatto un bel salto in avanti rispetto allo scorso anno! Per ora secondo me Napoli e Milan sono sicuramente da Scudetto, Inter non direi... a parte che per ora abbiamo vinto solo contro squadre modeste, la squadra non mi sembra poi così migliorata rispetto allo scorso anno, e credo che al massimo potremmo qualificarci per la Champions, ma vedremo. Juve incognita, sembrava partita bene (pur non giocando in maniera eccezionale) e ora si è bloccata, per ora non ce la vedo a lottare per lo Scudetto, ma è ancora troppo presto per giudicare. La Roma non la prendo nemmeno in considerazione, con tutto il rispetto, ma al massimo potrà qualificarsi per qualche competizione europea.
Per quanto riguarda la nazionale, oltre a sperare in qualche passo falso della Norvegia, che secondo me non capiterà, spero che questa volta le cose andranno diversamente. Certo, la squadra e i giocatori sono molto modesti, una volta speravamo di vincere il Mondiale, ora speriamo di qualificarci...
Gentlemen Paolo & Simone: hope that life has been treating you well lately. How was the last round of the World Cup qualifiers for the Italian national squad? I have to admit that I have only seen snippets of the Dutch matches against Malta and Finland. Hope that both NL and Italy can make arrangements for the tournament in the Far West in the not too distant future! I have to catch up on national leagues, but just read a news alert about Noa Lang celebrating Napoli’s equalizer (and subsequently finding out that the goal was invalid for being offside).
Many thanks Paolo. Hopefully, AC Milan can secure the lead in the Serie A. I have a weak spot for ACM ever since the trinity of Rijkaard, Gullit and Van Basten. Also happy to see other Dutch players like Dumfries at Inter and Lang at Napoli succeed.
The Dutch squad seems to be near ready for the World Cup. We have a solid defense with several key players from the Premier League in the UK (eg Van Dijk, Timber and Van de Ven). Midfield is strong with Frenkie de Jong, Ryan Gravenberch, Reijnders and Kluivert. The main problem seems to be the forward position and right wing. Fingers crossed when facing serious contenders for the title!

Thanks Paolo and you are right about the other Dutch players who are active in the Serie A. I would not consider The Netherlands as a serious contender for the title - as applies to the vast majority of Dutch soccer fans. Goal scoring capacity is proper against weaker opponents, but may not suffice when facing the likes of Spain and France. But tournaments tend to be unpredictable to a certain extent. Hopefully Italy can qualify and strengthen the squad.

Daytime priorities have shifted from life in the office to some time exclusively allocated to our two daughters (often extending into the evenings with some fun activities of their choosing).

The stadium in Deventer is the smallest in the Europa league. Families estranged from any significant titles cheering for their local club in old fashion. Taking the 2-1 win across the finish line - and this outcome being well deserved! - is reminiscent of old sentiment being both alive and fruitful!

That seems to make sense Paolo. The Premier League and a handful of teams from La Liga are likely to dominate European football in the years to come. Some rare gems - PSG last year and Bayern M. this year - are part of the European elite.

Mi sa che l'Italia che non si qualificherà ai Mondiali nemmeno quest'anno, ma probabilmente è meglio così, altre squadre lo meritano sicuramente più di noi e noi siamo una squadra ridicola. L'ho detto e lo ripeto, se una volta la nostra ambizione era quella di vincere i Mondiali, ormai siamo ridotti a sperare di qualificarci come unico obiettivo.
