At some point, I had face photos. Now, I don't. Part of why I don't post my face as much is because I have had older men get aggressive with me when I don't look exactly like my photo. I've also had people approach my profile only if I was dressed nicely in the photo. I'm not here to pick up men, I want to meet people that want to have conversations with me because they like talking to me, not because of how I look. As soon as I put up a photo of my face, I had multiple messages. When I took it down recently, no one messaged me. Another reason why I don't post my face is because I dislike the way I look. I don't like my mixed race face.

As for messages, try to put a picture, even if it's not your face, and start talking to others. You certainly will not get many messages or people will ignore you more than if you had your face or body on pfp, but you'd get a better result than having nothing at all as pfp.

I feel the same(except for the mixed race part), my mom always tells me to be really careful online because there are many bad men who will take advantage of me for being a girl and for looking the way I do. Also I am insecure about my face. So I understand why you don't have a photo of yourself. But Lianshen is right if you don't have a photo at all it's more likely people won't look at you profile. So you can put a picture up from something you like without your face.
I made and make a lot of photos of myself, but I cannot share them with anyone/put them up on social media. Partly it's my parents not allowing me to do so and partly that unless I know a person for a long time (maybe 5 months or more) I don't feel like sharing a photo with them. They might be not who they claim to be, or they might just laugh and not share back, or give a fake one. I always think that doing a voice call with someone is a much better way to know and trust them more.
I don't feel comfortable to put a picture of me partly because I don't have a good self esteem. Also, I've tried to put a picture before, really normal, really neutral, but I've also received several messages from men for bad reasons. So I've removed it and haven't had this problem since then.

In my case it is for fear that my photos will be stolen, and a bit out of insecurity haha also for the same reason as they said above, if you post a photo a lot of strange people start writing to you just to flirt and ask for your networks or photos. And it is very uncomfortable and annoying
I'm not here to share photos of my face [even when I have one in my profile] or to receive weird message. I'm here, because I wanna write with people from all over the world and proof my English skills.
I also don't have a problem with people without a profile picture cause looks shouldn't matter in messages.
