This is the mainstream definition but it's mostly bs for a very simple reason: if an individual/group complains loudly enough that they're victims of hatred and/or feel offended by something/someone, they automatically receive more "rights" than those who don't. It's a vicious cycle in which certain groups are protected while others aren't.
For example, whether in France or the UK, you can't voice general criticism of immigration without being accused of racism or xenophobia. There have been countless cases of actual hate speech or even physical assaults against native European populations that were completely dismissed because these people are deemed incapable of being victims. Freedom of speech exists only for some, and justice system routinely applies double standards.
You (we) don't live in the democracy that we think we have. The fact that a large portion of the population (although not necessarily the majority) still believes this is bordering on dystopian.
I got a problem with someone that eventually got toxic over a situation we had yesterday. I thought the situation to be resolved, but she would always come back to it over and over again, so I said to myself "enough is enough", especially after a bad night. Certain religions consider homophobia to be a sin. Based on their sacred books, followers of said religions have a right (if not an obligation) to oppose homosexuality. If you oppose this commandment, you're therefore rejecting their religion, which also happens to be a fundamental right in all Western countries. Thus you must either take a side or keep pretending everything's fine until one day it isn't.
Again, this isn't about my personal opinion on the matter, just stating that this virtuous tolerance game is rigged and only works in elementary school books.
My God, teens these days!! I was talking about a personal situation that occurred between another user and me, and it got toxic because the theme of this conversation is how toxic this app has become. I was not even talking about homophobia or anything you've been discussing with the others.

It's so amusing and ridiculous to read that people from relatively normal and safe countries (compared to the whole world) complain about homophobia. What exactly do you want except ranting about the thing which is almost non-existent in the West? Where in Europe do you see the state-fueled homophobia? In Europe you can be gay, lesbian or any 'pronoun' you want and nobody would kill you or fire you from your job or anything else because of that. You even harrass us with your gay prides which creates blokades in the cities and unuseful spend tax money for securing your carnival. I agree there are indivudals and groups who are homophobes, but we have to be fair and say that currently the much bigger problem is the heterophobia. When you say that you disagree with lgbt ideology you are immediately labeled as backward, close minded and hater. It's funny because if we want to 'accept the differences' then we must accept that people disagree with lgbt ideology without excluding them. That has already happened to a person here, when he said he disagrees with lgbt ideology, some 'open minded fighters for freedom' attacked him which showed a huge level of hipocricy.

Cureently you have the right, although I won't be surprised if they start prosecuting us in the future because we refuse to agree with them.

I think I understand your point. However, I’m not sure I would consider this an LGBT theory or ideology. For example, when someone says “I am heterosexual”, isn’t that also a category or a label, just like when someone says they are gay, lesbian, or trans? To me, it can simply be a way of expressing one’s experiences or who someone is attracted to
Also, labels exist in many other areas of life, not only within the LGBT community. People use words to describe their personality, interests, professions, beliefs or many other aspects of themselves
For me it is really simple because i think ANYYY hate or phobic about people is weird if it is because how people are unless they are hateful, racist or discriminate. So maybe there is freedom of speech what @Etienne said BUTTT we can choose what we THINK if people say things that maybe are allowed but are super hateful. So in that case i choose that im NOTTT with them. If people cant be open and accept how people are then im not open for them back. And i think that is allowed bc they choose their way BUTTT i can choose my way. I think u should always accept people how they are. They dont bother anybody with how they are and it is their choice like for everybody else they can make their choices.
And about labels: i dont mind them if people use them for themselves or EVEN for others. But only if they mean it in a good way. So if for example somebody says that she is a lesbian or that he is a Christian or that she is a vegetarian. That is not wrong and it just says some things that they maybe mean with it. BUTTTT the labels dont mean that u cant be yourself. So for example im Buddhist BUTTTT what we believe of Buddhism can be different than other people. But still im Buddhist and that is allowed i think even if there are differences. I think that is what mariee @Txya also means but im not sure. In any case it is what i believe.
