We are actually in the process of adopting a seal at the WEC in the Netherlands. After a period of approximately 3 months (recovery period) at the centre, seals are released back in the wild. As soon as a seal is allocated to us, we can sponsor its stay at the WEC. Our two daughters will be the “adoptive parents” of the wounded or sick seal (often a pup in these months), can name and visit the seal and will be present on the boat to release “their” recovered animal. That must be a magical - and also somewhat tragic - experience at their age.
Prior to the birth of our two daughters I had a cheetah at De Wildt Cheetah Conservatory in South Africa until her release. Always fun to say that “our pet can easily consume yours” at family reunions and parties.

Wij krijgen nog een toegewezen. Staan nu op de wachtlijst. Het betreft een financiële adoptie totdat een volledig herstel heeft plaatsgevonden. Het WEC ligt aan de Waddenzee in Lauwersoog. Leuk om te bezoeken (zeker met kinderen). Interactief en informatief voor jong en oud.
