Interview with @Yue_ - 30.05.2025
Hello Yue, and thank you sincerely for accepting this interview. You're actually the one who made the most interviews here on Penpal Gate, and you deserve to get one too because you truly are a special person. 🙂 I prepared a set of questions, that I hope you'll enjoy !

PART I
1: Tell us about life in the Netherlands. Is it a nice country to live in ? Why ?
I was born in the Netherlands, but my parents come from China. And I still have family (most are in Nanjing which is a big city not super far from Shanghai). 🥰🥰 But for me the Netherlands is home and not China. Sometimes people dont understand that but i prefer to live here bc i have all my friends here from normal life and my school and it is where i belong. 🌈🌞🌸❤️
Most people in my country are super friendly and nice. But they are also like trees super tall and big. 🌳🌳🦕 But my mom jokes that is bc of the food because everything is with potatoes or heavy. So with food i normally prefer what we cook at home. It is healthier and you dont get fat from it. 😛
In the Netherlands i think most things are very good like for example school and hospitals or if you want to take the train and museums. 🏆🥇 But there are also problems like stuff being super expensive but that is also in other countries. 🙄🙄
2: How did you come to this site ? What were your expectations when you first arrived here ? What do you like the MOST about Penpal Gate ?
What i wanted is to write with friends in all countries in the world in English ANDDD in French. ❣️🌍🥳🥳 My French is now not très bon but i like it. But with one person i wrote in French i promised to not use Google Translate if i write in French on PPG. So i am sorry if i make like 798723 mistakes when i write French. 🫣 I also make a lot of mistakes in English if i type super fast. But if i take more time i think that it is ok but not good enough yet!! 😛😛
In the beginning when i got here i did not expect to write on the forum AT ALLLL. Bc everybody can read it so that was not very comfortable to know. But now i dont think it is scary at all anymore and i write anything that i hope maybe one or more persons will also like. 🙏🙏 On the forum I like a lot of silly forums that we have but also special things like about art or serious things like statements or news about today. ANDDD i like making interviews for people bc that way you can know a lot more of persons. The first interview on PPG was with Etienne and @H_E_A_R_T and i made it together. And after i interviewed Michael who is now from PPG he also said that i should interview more people. And i think that now i interviewed more than 20 people and i really like it. 🙂 @Roseeeee said to me one time that it is nice if we can talk deeper about some things than normally with topics on the forum. And i think she is right!!! 💯🥇🎗️ And that is also why i like the interviews if you want to know other persons. 😊😊
What i did NOT expect is one thing about PPG. With life here in the Netherlands most of my friends are my age, but here i have a LOTTT of friends who are much older than me. But they are super friendly and patient also when they chat with me. Or people from really different countries and that is very nice. ❤️❤️💌
3: You write a lot on Penpal Gate, and that’s amazing because you always come out with bright ideas ! But where do you find all of your inspiration from ?
Thank you very much!!! It depends but sometimes i make forums like about funny things and games i have with my friends at school. So sometimes i make it almost the same or a bit different but for the forum!! 😛 But if there are for example funny or silly questions the answers here are A LOTTT different than in school. That is what i did NOTTT expect at all. 🤭🤭 And sometimes just when i think of smt or see things on tv or when something happens. And i made a lot of forums also with others like with @Annika2007 and also with @Sarahsalah27 i made several forums. That was really fun to do!! And for statements i often borrow topics from our society class. 👩🎓👩🎓👩🎓
4: What school subjects do you like the most ? What would you like to be in the future ?
The subject i like the most is history. But we have to choose are profile soon of subjects that you get the rest of the time until you had your exam in the last year. But my chem teacher is pushing a LOTTT for a beta profile but i also like some subjects from alpha classes. So now i will make a mix i think of beta subjects like chem and bio and physics and math B and three languages and history. 🙄🙄 But at least i dont want to have economy anymore. That subject i like the LEAST!!! 😶🌫️ With this profile i have one or maybe two extra subjects but if it is too much you can maybe drop one of the two. So that is what i will probably do and my mentor said already that it would be possible to add the extra subjects if i really want it. 🙂
alpha subjects are like languages and history and art. and beta subjects are like biology and chemistry and physics and mathematics (and beta is more difficult with math than alpha). So if we choose our profile we have to do every year that way until the exam is passed. You can choose extra subjects if you want 🙂 but if it is too much you can drop the extra subjects but i dont want to drop any.
And i think i want to become a medicine researcher or a journalist. When i was smaller i wanted to work in a hospital but if i see blood and needles i am like: 😵💫😵💫😵💫 so i think working in a hospital is maybe not a good idea. 😬😬
5: I know that you are Dutch and Chinese. Do you know how to speak Chinese ? What connection do you feel with China ?
People in the Netherlands often look at me as Chinese BUTTT people in China often look at me like westener. That is a super weird feeling but it is difficult to explain it. 🤷♀️🤷♀️ Mostly they are nice and friendly about it. But sometimes also really negative and racist. That happens a lot too or other negative comments. 🙁 But i will not argue with those people bc than it can make it a lot worse. But most are positive or normal about it.
I feel the most Dutch bc the Netherlands is for me my home. 🥰🥰 But i also feel Asian for example with food and series or music (sometimes it can be Chinese but also for example Korean or Japanese). And Chinese is also part of culture like what my parents have as rules and how you behave. Like for example how some friends talk to their parents i almost got a heart attack. 😬😬💔 But sometimes it is difficult to explain to my friends if they know my parents are super strict about some things. And i sometimes dont agree with it but it is difficult to explain that i should not complain about that and it does not work like that in my family. But i hope that they understand it and think it is not wrong. 🌸🌼🌻
