Dear Alexej, Kholodets looks like a dish, that we in Germany call "Sülze". I think you love it or you hate it! I love it! "Sülze" with a good piece of bread and a good mostard is a dream! Greetings to Russia!

Was trinkt man zu Kholodets? Bier? Viele Grüße Peter

I have to say the grossest thing I've seen people eat in the US is fried toothpaste. I have no idea how it gets fried, but I will tell you that Americans are creative in that we can figure out how to fry just about anything. Somehow, this includes toothpaste. I... I have almost no words. I'm also not fond of squash, but I don't know that it's the *grossest* thing we eat in our country.

Wait... FRIED toothpaste ??? How ??? 😂
I honestly have no idea. I've heard of so many things being deep fried, it's ridiculous. I think it's almost just a challenge to see who can fry the weirdest thing successfully.
I would definitively choose the roquefort. It is a very famous and appreciated cheese in France.
Basically, this cheese doesn't affect your health, but its particularity is that it is also composed of Penicillium roqueforti, a species of fungi (these fungi are also not bad for your health, but imagine eating a fungi cheese... Eww)
If it's about cheese, then I'm afraid that roquefort has nothing special. Mimolette has acarians on it, casgiu merzu (very much like casu marzu that already has been mentionned) in corsica has living maggots (larva of the fly) in it.
I'd still argue that in comparison to any English "food", those still look fine. (that was free)
