Interview with @Fleurke 17.05.2026

1: How long have you been a member on PPG? What are the things you like the most and what are things that maybe can be made better? Who are your BEST friends from PPG and what kind of people do you like to chat with the most?
First and foremost, thank you for getting an interview from the sweetest and smartest PPG member. I have been a member of this PPG for over 19 months. When I had surgery on both knees, I had a lot of free time, and because I enjoy talking to people and wanted to improve my English, I ended up on this Penpal. I love talking to people from all over the world the most. Unfortunately, most are looking for flirting or online relationships, but I also have people with whom I have deep, long conversations, and I even send letters to a few of them. Mayuuram, Lorenzo, Indika, Shirazikira, Sabri, Simone, Yue, and Alegzander are the people I have known the longest here, and I met Steve, Anita, and Dracula recently and have beautiful conversations with them. I wouldn't change anything about this site, except perhaps that if you have blocked someone, it would be handy if you could no longer read what they write, or vice versa. And I miss the chatroom.
2: In what kind of city do you live in Belgium and what is it like? What are the nicest things to see and do if come to visit your city? And who lives with you in your house?
I live as a single mom with my three children. We live in a village next to Waregem, a city known worldwide for equestrian sports. Since 1847, there have been annual horse races called Waregem Koerse, which is a major event that attracts many people from all over. I love this city. We live by the water: the Leie, and we have small woods around us where we can walk, cycle, and observe the fauna and flora. If you were to visit me, I would take you to Hippo War and to the American cemetery, where even President Obama came. Furthermore, I would have a coffee or bubble tea with you at Melonbar next to the water fountains, or walk to the football stadium, followed by the cinema and our beautiful park belonging to Baron Casier, who has sadly passed away.
3: Are your children a lot like you like how they look and do or think? Or also different in some ways maybe? And do you also have brothers or sisters yourself? And if yes: are you really close?
I have 3 sisters. Unfortunately, due to a very bad childhood, we only have contact very sporadically, but hey, it's just me and my 3 kids and that's enough. My 3 children are my everything. We all four have the same chin, hahaha. Only the youngest looks very much like me; the 2 oldest don't, but they share some traits with me. For example, my oldest son's eyes are hazel brown, but he inherited the almond shape from me. My daughter has long, brown curly hair (I have blond and straight hair), but she inherited her husky voice from me. They got their character from me: sweet, empathetic, compassionate, friendly, and hard workers. The 2 oldest are slobs in their own rooms, and they didn't get that from me π
4: What is the best vacation that you every had? What did you do and can you remember what it was like and what you had to eat and who you met? And do you normally bring souvenirs and if yes what kind do you like?
Without any doubt, Cuba (Varadero) was the most beautiful trip I ever took. I never regretted the 19 hours on the plane. I stayed alone in an all-inclusive hotel right on the beach, I swam in the sea, visited the Valley of ViΓ±ales in the province of Pinar del Rio, ate langoustine and mango in the homes of the locals, swam in beautiful, cool, and shimmering caves, visited the famous boulevard El MalecΓ³n where couples in love meet, where entire families walk or watch the water crashing against the rocks or the setting sun, and I visited Castillo de los Tres Reynes del Morro while a band sang the song La Vie en Roze.
I rode along in a jeep on safari, I rode on the back of a bull, we sailed in small boats on a river where the guides caught lobsters for their families, the illegal taxis took us to the R&B nightclubs in the evening, I swam in the sea where you could see dolphins swimming very early in the morning, I sailed on a catamaran where the skipper dived for starfish for me, I talked to the locals as if they were my family, I gave Belgian chocolate to the chambermaids.
I visited El Capitolio (the National Capitol) in Havana, the guides called my eyes pastilia, on a mango plantation a worker asked if I wasn't going to live there hahaha!
I stayed at an all-inclusive hotel where you could eat all day long, pizza in the afternoon, all-inclusive buffets with fresh fish, etc. Of course, I love souvenirs; I bought cigars (I still have the empty boxes), Cuban rum, beautiful paintings, a beautiful necklace and bracelet with shells, and coffee.
I am an easy talker; I traveled alone but knew and talked to everyone. I love getting to know the locals: the postman, the little old lady sitting quietly on the veranda, the boys who looked at me teasingly, etc.
5: Which 3 things are on your bucket list that you would really like to do one time in your life and do you think that you will really do those things? And is there something that was on your bucket list but that you did this year or the last few years?
There are still a few things on my bucket list: visiting my ex-father-in-law in Morocco (he told my son, "Before I die, I want to see your mother visit here one more time"), visiting Brazil to help orphanages, traveling to Cuba with my kids, and jumping out of a plane.
Yes, I already did the balloon ride a few years ago, so I crossed it off my bucket list and added a new one: the plane.
