Today I got my report card. To be honest, it was not so good and I wish I could have done better.

Now my questions are:

I seldom cared about report cards when I was a middle school student. In China it's generally the same: not too many good words and also the bad words, generally the same for everyone. If you are talking about grading, we had exams every month so everybody understands his/her capabilities. Still thanks for inviting me in this topic.

Thank you for your great answer to this topic. I am really happy you answered. How are the exams separated from each other? Are in the last week of every month the exams or every week of every month an exam or how is it?

It would be average, but inching more towards good. I get between 70% and 100% on exams and homework. Also I'm calm and I listen in class, so I would probably get a note about how 'serious I am when it comes to school' or something like that. Every teacher I've had complemented me and said I was a good student, I don't know if I actually am or if they say that to everyone haha

I don't get report cards because they're not obligatory and I guess my mother isn't a teacher too, she has a job other than teaching me, so she doesn't have time to make a report card. I don't think they're very important anyway, are they?

as student, imma type of realistic & strategic (kinda visioner) person. I'm not the type who is very ambitious that unconsciously makes myself depressed or without realize hurting people just to aim my goals. I'm more of a strategic student.

Let's be realistic, everyone has subjects that they are good at and subjects that they are not good at. For the subject that I have mastered, I study only to hone it, but for subject that I don't master, I usually ask or study with my friends.

but yes, there are times when even though I have studied, no matter what, humans still have capacities (yes, i'm bad at physic, history & math. so I just accept my capacity, and gladly my parent understand about this).

well, it doesn't mean i let it all bad, or i never study. Of course, i'm still trying, but I'm more looking for pro-active & alternative option to help my grade.

and in Indonesia, There is a rule from the school that dispensation (because of join competition) can help grades. so that my grades on the report card are never bad & my parent still glad on me 😛

and about my raport, Actually, my parents are used to seeing my grades, so if there is even the slightest mistake, they don't mind because the rest is good. But actually, when my parents were too proud of me, my shoulders felt heavy. so, when I went to college, I chose to study in a place very far away so that my parents would not know how I was developing. only me and myself who know & take responsibility.

so i think, i know every of you really care about your report card, but if you have the capacity, accept it. but you also think of alternative options to make your report card good. being care, have ambitious is good, But anything excessive is not good, right? know your limit & self-capacity to get the best result. goodluck!

I saw it so i can say it!! 🙂 And it can of course get better but i think you should be PROUUDD of it no matter what other people say. I really mean that so this is for your report card: 🏆🥇🎗️🎀🎁🎈

BUTTTT i will of course answer your questions!! 🙂 So here are my answers:

1. How are/were you at school?

I think good and even my dad thinks my grades are good. So i am very happy about that because he is SUPERR strict. I could skip one year up in primary school but i think that was maybe a mistake. My mentor at high school says that it is not only important if you get good grades but ALSOO if you are comfortable in the class and you feel socially also good. And some friends i dont really have that i liked very much. But my class is for the biggest part nice.

2. What is/was the highlight of getting a report card for you?

For me it was tension more because i always want to make my dad proud enough. But he is strict and he thinks it is important to be in the BEST group of your class like top 3. But i think it is more important to get good grades and that you also feel good. My mom thinks that too but not if my dad also speaks.

3. What are/were the bad parts of the report card?

I dont have weak grades BUTTT i do have weak things and that can be with different classes. For example i am not very good with stress. So if i feel stress i can freeze BUTTT i do know the answers but that is a problem only sometimes. And with presentations i feel VERY uncomfortable and i still do it of course but you have to speak louder but if a teacher says that it is more difficult too. And if im fast with something like typing super fast i make a LOTTT of mistakes because it is sloppy. But if i take time i have not many mistakes. And one time i did not finish all questions because the teacher said i spent too much time that it looks nice too and i should make it sloppy looking and be faster. But that does not feel good at all.

4. Do you have any favorite report card?, If yes, which grade was it? (Can we see 🤭?)

I dont have a favourite report card BUTTT i have a favourite celebration that i finished primary school we had dinner in a restaurant (it is in Amsterdam a Chinese restaurant but it floats on the water) also with family and some friends of my parents and that was really nice!!

5. Do you have a report card where you think/thought "I couldn't do more worse!"?

No but my dad always see what i can do better too.

6. Do you have a report card where you think/thought "This is the best report card I have!/I am proud of my self!"?

If im honest i am faster happy about it and proud than my dad but my mom is more like me too.

7. What are/was your favorite subjects and which grades do/did you mostly get/got from them?

Our grades are from 1 to 10. So if you get 6 you passs. And 7 is good and 8 very good and 9 almost highest and 10 is perfect. For most subjects EXCEPT economics i get 8 or higher. But with economics i can also get 7 (not once but more often). My favourite subject is history!!!!! And i love English and French, society class (maatschappijleer in Dutch) and i like creative classes like for example LATERRR art history. But that is not in my year yet.

8. Would you like to be able to give your teachers report cards 🤭?

Yesss but we have nice teachers and my mentor she gets a 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9. What are/were your parents reaction(s) to a bad report card?

I dont have bad report cards but my dad always thinks it can get BETTER. So for example if I get a a 9 and a 9 and a 9 and an 8 and a 9 he ONLYYY sees that i got one 8 and that could also be a 9.

My mom is always happy about it ANDDDD we see it first because my dad is home later so that is nice. And my dad does not say for example that it is bad if i got good grades BUTTTT he will ask for example why i got an 8 for a class and it could be higher. So he says good, but why that grade? And i have to explain it to him.

I want to give you a tip mulanyy that i got too but about smt different. I hope it helps. My mentor told me in the beginning when i got to know her and she said: if you dont like what you see in the mirror, dont change the mirror. But maybe you change how you look at yourself. For me it was about different issues that i feel insecure about but it can also be about for example your grades and what you think of it. Because everybody else may think differently about it except you (and your mom). ❤️❤️❤️
