The future of Gaza and Ukraine? Can the president of the United States alone decide the fate of the world? Can he decide which country to take? Can he decide where thousands of people will live? Can he deport thousands of people?

What Trump and Netanyahu say about Palestine and what they want to do is disgusting. We unfortunately live in a world where presidents of "democracies" that claim themselves to be for liberty, still think about war, occupation, deportation and ethnic cleansing, and still getting away with it by dehumanizing Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.
They think they can decide of where thousands of people will live, simply to satisfy their own interests to the detriment of Palestinians, the Arab World, and humanity.

I believe he suggested to temporarily take over the region to rebuild it in an attempt to put an end to the never ending war. Without third party intervention it's very unlikely it will ever stop, unless one side is completely exterminated. So yes this plan sounds silly, but it could be the only way to reach peace without total destruction. 🤕️

no, he expressly stated that he will turn it into a holiday resort because the sunset there in Gaza is very beautiful, he also said if the hostages are not free by Saturday at 12 noon, all hell will break loose.

Would you leave your country because Trump wants your country? Where will the inhabitants of Gaza go to live? In the hotels of the Persian Gulf? Will they agree to leave their land? Will Arab countries welcome Gazans? Will they be able to return to Gaza in the future? Will Trump buy Gaza? Who owns Gaza? Will Hamas accept this plan? Will Trump include Greenland? Who owns Greenland? Trump abandons Zelenskiy. Trump will let Putin take control of all of Ukraine in a few years. This is Trump's world. It's not Alice in Wonderland. You're too optimistic Etienne. Trump is a crazy old megalomaniac. It would be nice to read Angela Merkel's memoirs. Trump's thoughts are explained in that book. If precious minerals were found in Corsica tomorrow... Will Trump be able to buy Corsica? The president of the most important country in the world cannot behave like a bully.

Well he's right to demand the release of hostages. Holding people hostage is the very definition of terrorism, regardless of the context (even though this is a different topic).
If what you say ends up happening (holiday resort where natives get permanently kicked out of the area) obviously I'm against it and so would be most of the world. I think it wouldn't really make sense for them to do that, we're speculating on something way too early. At the end of the day I'm willing to bet nothing will even happen at all
@Pennarossa2024: you're going all over the place with your comment. I'm willing to discuss individual points but you're purposefully throwing stuff left and right in a nonsensical way. I never said I want people to be expelled from their country. I said any peace attempt is to be at least considered, given there is literally zero solution to this matter 🤷♂️️

I stop me. Just one question. Trump wants to buy Gaza. Now who owns Gaza? Who sells Gaza to the United States? Who collects the money from the sale? Trump is not a child. He can't think like this. I won't go back to this discussion again. Have a good day Etienne

Where did you see Trump wants to buy Gaza? He said he's considering taking control of the area to rebuild it and stop the war once and for all. If populations can end up safely returning: good. If populations are not to return: bad. Yes? No need to coat all of this with random fake news.

Trump has said he is committed to buying and controlling Gaza, but may concede some areas to other Middle Eastern countries to help with reconstruction. The president of the United States, Bloomberg reports, announced it to journalists on board Air Force One. Bye bye

I get your point, and I wish it was true. However, I’m unfortunately certain this plan is extremely ill intentioned.
First, Trump wishes to "temporarily relocate" the Palestinians in neighboring countries for building, but what about the Palestinians currently living in neighboring countries such as Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, and more, that have never been allowed to come back ? Are they supposed to be displaced forever ? Why won’t they let them live in Gaza to build as well ? It’s their land after all, and some houses are still standing fine with people living inside, what about them ?
Second, the fact that most Zionists wildly and widely approved of this "plan" does not bode well at all. A long-time ally proposing to build on coveted land only fuels their envy, and their feeling of superiority and hatred towards the Arabs.
The United States in this conflict is certainly not an impartial party, especially when this state has supported the Zionists in their actions against Palestine and Gaza.

He never said that. Buying means it's yours to keep. He said take control to rebuild, this is a critical difference. Please take some time to check your sources, this is doing more harm than good.
For that i dont like forums about trump our war 🙂↔️🤷♀️peace
I agree and I don't even understand how it got to an argument since all I ever said is let's consider any opportunity to stop war and give a chance for people to rightfully live in peace. This is something we all should strive for. Unfortunately "Trump" is the magic word to drive people bananas whatever he may say.

Yes they should come back but the region needs to be stabilized first, and only peace can allow that. Say if none of this happens, these people you mention will still be indefinitely displaced, stuck in this situation, no?

These are very strong words, but there may be still be some truth to them. At the end of the day I think Palestine is the facade conflict between Israel and the Arab world, which makes it impossible to solve. Yes some people actively support the 2 state solution, but they have been the minority.
The United States in this conflict is certainly not an impartial party, especially when this state has supported the Zionists in their actions against Palestine and Gaza.
Yes you're right. I'm only extrapolating but I think fueling billions to Israel forever is probably more costly than take control of the area to rebuild once and for all, so it may possibly be a cost efficient solution to the US solely based on this aspect. I'm not even saying this is a good idea or I approve right of the bat, I'm just saying that this situation is hopeless to begin with. I'm personally in favor of people living in their home land with no possibility to fuel conflict, somehow. Maybe too optimistic as would say Pennarossa.
Just a minor scribble from my side. Once I have finished my coffee (halfway there) I will need to resume work.
I am not convinced that the plan in its current shape will be implemented. The big question that remains unidentified is whether this was actually the aim. I would not be surprised if this would be a preliminary step to generate massive pressure. However, certain elements could easily reappear on the agenda in a next round.
I disagree with a a lot of the Trump agenda, but he has capable staff at his disposal. They are not blind to notice that this “black and white sign here” deal will not work in its current shape.
The “current plan” obviously lacks a legal basis for unilateral intervention. This means that there are two main alternatives:
- Voluntary implementation in Gaza (will not happen)
- Coercion by political pressure on a massive scale in a number of ways
Trump has managed to unite a very significant coalition against this plan. The deal will not be palatable for the vast majority of people in this volatile region of the world. It will create massive unrest (at best) and will likely foster an explosive situation. Massive involuntary displacements - even under the “label” of temporary - are a red line for this region (and beyond).
If such a temporary exodus (the contradiction is deliberate) is forced unilaterally by a global powerhouse, it will also create a dangerous precedent in geopolitics. But again I would be surprised if this is the actual end game of Trump’s administration on this matter and I consider it naive to think that the plan will be implemented in its current shape.
