It's sure that in Europe, city and roads are very old, some city were build during antiquity or before! and as theses city are old, their "construction model" (their organisation) is not adapted at modern communications roads and highway! It's difficult to adapt old city at comunications way really enormous! I suppose that it was really more easy to create big axes in America because the State were more Giant, and the city were new, modern, and often build in "draughtboard" (if i trust my teachers! XD) In France the biggest city are now modernised and organised with big avenues, and Paris by exemple possess main axes since the "Haussmanisation" period, but it's impossible to build way too much big than you in this small space! it's lucky to me because i'm already lost in a road with 3 way... lol1
You're lucky to have a very big country, even if in France we havn't to beef (i don't know if it's correct) because France is not one of the more little country!
But in a city i prefer when "organisation" is in fact messed-up, i think it's more "human" and each city is different and have his own "personality" than a city organised for performance as Barcelona in spain or New-York, really "square"!

I love our cities so much, they are so much fun, and there is lots to do.
However, I live in the country so I love that too. (:
And when I graduate form college I am going to travel across Europe for a summer.
And next year (my junior year) or the year after that (my senior year) I am going to travel to Paris. 😛
It's hard to decide // in my view there is only two sides of US - good or bad. non in the middle.
Personally i would like to live anywhere but here. i live in the slums where rape, theft, murder, and just being an outright skank/bad person is acceptable. i want to live in japan.

I live in france and I fat (a few 😉 ) many people view the americans as people who want to be the chief! that is stupid! they think that because they see just the gouvernment, ( the wars, economy, ...) but they don't see the people who live in this country! Hi, am proud of America, most young people know little about this great country! I personally come from Africa. while in high school I studied how important America had been in the stop of slavery, and one of the greatest Christian freedom fighter! I'm sorry young people do not know these important histories! God bless America!

Some people say American is fat and bad. Others say its not. But I think like this : All countries have faults and fat or annoying people are everywhere(of course in my country). How can we say that Some countries are bad and others are good?
America is a good place to visit but not live. Not everyone is fat. Some people, a lot actually, hate McDonalds. Not everyone is stupid. There are actually a lot of people who are very smart. High school isn't as it is in movies. Not everyone is rich.
Well, people can be jealous too of US economical leadership in the world. It's not good to hear for other countries (😁 being french, well, i'm a good exemple i think), but it's true. Seiing that it's easy to see the US as a whole and forget that you are men and woman who have problems too. Talking with you is a good way to see your point of view. (well we are still lucky to live in such coutnries even if we are now facing important and probably long-term crisis).
So, i am overweight but not american, and i really coudn't danse french cancan even if my life would depend on it (like probably 99% of the french population.... stupid dance).
It can be a cultural matter too. Sometimes i feel i know more about you than any other people in the world because of everything we can see on the tv, the cinema, in books, from the US. 😁 we are invaded !! But when seing the same tv show, something you know is a joke about your culture, we can take as true, and the same for you about Europe, because well, we are still miles and miles away from each others.
I love the USA ! It's a huge country with many states and many different cultures. I like America mostly because of the language and the American accent. I have been there and I totally enjoyed my trip.
But as many other countries, there are bad things and problems. I'm realistic, it's not a perfect place but it's not the worst either.
People shouldn't pay attention to stereotypes but see by themselves how is it there.

american are arrogant and bad,they always think america is the center of the world,all the other countries must follow they.if not,your country may be invaded.for example iraq,please donot think that americans are helping people in iraq out of Dictatorship,they killed many innocent civilians.and when their crimes were exposed,they just say they were so sorry .then?Business as usual!just like nothing had happened!their kids have big house to live in,enough food to eat,Toys to play with,chances to study.they need to worry about nothing.but in some countries where wars were broken out,kids have no food,no peaceful place to live in no chances to get education.and they even donot know whether they'll still be here to see the sun rise up tomorrow.americans,please return the peace to the people in wars!

I am not us-addict. I do not love them, nor hate them, as I haven't met any "in real life".
In France, Americans are often manichean characters in jokes involving fat people or representing militar and authoritarian regimes, especially when George W. Bush Jr was leading the country. They are also said to be quite... low-IQ ; or to be excessively patriotic ; or capitalists who consider socialism as the worst nightmare ever. HOWEVER, they are jokes. It's a pity to realize that some do not see any difference between the caricatured American and "Americans", who include various habits and mentalities. I am afraid that you, Aff, are meddling : you counfound the American soldiers in Iraq, who obviously in a wide majority do not care about gas and wish they could go back home soon, with the cliché of THE American, a selfish guy who just want to pump the petrol out of a country no matter if it becomes a wasted land.
As for me, I don't really know the American culture. I have discovered some of its aspects in films, but it has certainly be distorted a little (do you often fight against giant robots or aliens ? Maybe it's not so commonplace 😃 ) !
