A clarification. Someone said that Penpal Gate does not need a flag because it is not a state. It is true. However a flag can become the symbol of friendship. For some people the flag project can be a fun game. For other people it may be an example of "direct democracy". When I proposed designing and voting on the flags, I thought that this idea would allow us to meet new people, make new friends, consolidate existing friendships, and let other people participate in the life of the forum. Ultimately Etienne will decide what to do with the winning flag. He can put it in the drawer of good memories, or he can hoist it on the tower of a castle๐Ÿฐ or on the flagpole of a shipโ›ด๏ธโ›ต. The castle of Friendship. The ship of friendship. Or Etienne will say he doesn't like the flag๐Ÿ˜ณ. Let's hope not๐Ÿ˜Š

I think the colours are not varied enough. More than half of the options have this off-red, pinkish tint, and there seems to be some disregard towards regular primary and secondary colours which are completely absent (maybe with the exception of that green).

Is the flag going to be displayed anywhere or?

What happens with the abstention vote, if that is the majority does it mean no flag is chosen?

Red is the color of Penpal Gate. There are still almost sixteen hours to vote. Eventually we will see the results. We will decide together with Etienne what to do with the flag.

Having been an absentee for about two months (life was relentless at the office), this forum thread caught my immediate attention. The flag design initiative symbolizes the family alike atmosphere of this penpal site. Kudos to all who contributed! I will cast a vote later today after another coffee round (or two).

Just used the online form to cast a vote. Hopefully the discrepancy between country of origin (NL) and current location (France; as seems to apply to many Dutch citizens looking at the vehicles around us on the French highways) does not render the vote invalid. If needed I can try again when we are back at our hotel in the afternoon.
