📸️

His book is fascinating, containing details, annecdotes, and constantly mentioning the work of other scientists of his era to support his point which shows very well the level of science Darwin had. I had the chance to get a version in French that tries to preserve his writing style and it's a delight to me.

That being said, Charles Darwin took a looooooong time before publishing On the Origin of Species. So much actually that, Alfred Russel Wallace also came up with the same idea and wrote an essay that he shared with Darwin in 1858 (Wallace had some serious problems at that time and asked Darwin to send it for publication). The work of Wallace kind of pushed Darwin to finally publish his own work.

What is very interesting in the work of Darwin is how deep it dig the topic, and how some people who argue against darwinism with question (e.g. about the formation of eye) are already adressed in his book and later works.

Thank you @Yue_ i like it and also the clip are beautifull

Thank you very much @Fleurke!! 🙏🙏 My mom listens a lot to older china pop. 🙂

Wowww that is very nice to read @Lianshen!!! You know A LOTTT about it!! More than just that you read the whole book!!! 🙂 I had no idea about that other person Wallace that he also had ideas like that. 🙄🙄 Is the book of Darwin SUPERRR difficult to read?

Wallace is not as popular as Darwin usually, but he is often considered like a co-discover of Natural Selection. Funnily, he put Darwin first himself though and coined the term "darwinism" too apparently.
Darwin is really important for me as he puts many of the fundations of modern biology. As for the difficulty, no. Darwin is good at explaining his ideas. What can be a little difficult is that he writes long sentences in which you can lose yourself if you don't focus on what he was talking about first. Except that, there is no difficulty.

He wrote a bunch of other books, but I didn't get the chance to read them yet. Same for Wallace, I couldn't read him, but he apparently wrote very well. If we are talking about writing well though, I also have to mention a French enthomologist: Jean-Henri Fabre. He wrote "Souvenirs entomologiques", which is renowned for its literary qualities and that I would really like to read someday too.
Funnily, Jean Henri Fabre was corresponding a lot with Darwin and was a kind of friend too, but he was not convinced at all by natural selection! 😉
