I still have a lot of memories. But I no longer have any material things from my childhood or youth.
But that also has something to do with the fact that I was homeless for a while. You don't have many possessions with you.

Thank you for your reply @mabah!! 🙏 I think that memories are BY FAR the most important from the past and I hope that they are very nice memories!! 🙂

And my aunt always says that if people have very difficult times like you when you were homeless that they are VERY strong if they come out of it.💪 And that you are an example that way for everybody. Because that is not easy and you got now in a better position. So I think that is very good and everybody can think of that as an example of how strong you can be. 🏆🏆 If I would be homeless I would have NO IDEA what i would do. 🙁 I hope that it never happens again for you and that the nice memories from the past will always stay with you!! ❣️🤗🤗❣️

Thank you, Yue.
I'm not at odds with my past. Everything that happens in life fulfils a purpose. That is life.

That is true that everything happens for a purpose but i still think that you are super strong that you got out of it and that you are so positive. That is super cool. 🙂

Omg I loved that dog! It was cutting edge technology back in the day 😂. I'm familiar with the last 3 pictures

The dog (there was a cat equivalent later I believe) was something absolutely everyone wanted back then. It was considered peak technology even in the media.... The price was peak too for something kids who were lucky enough to have got bored of after 3 days 😂

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Same here, familiar with the 3 last pictures. I loved VHS and how it worked, the typical smell that I associate with them and the time it took, the noise and the defects of the technology was something I really liked as a child.

The second picture looks like a camcorder, but I have known only more recent ones so I am not sure at all... My family only had one; as for the phone, my parents started to get one starting with the 3310 (aka the brick) for work. We started to get our own phone and computer later.

However, I think many items might be specific to Japan there, or at least more common to Japan from the 80's, as Japan was much richer than European countries and much more technology friendly that us back then.

During my childhood we used to have a computer which looked like a robust mini tank (many parts were of iron or a similar substance). Upon starting up: two discs (each the size of a square restaurant plate) had to be inserted. I can remember using this “box of magic” to write a letter to the head coach of the Dutch national football team (together with a friend from school) as we disagreed with squad listings. We were 8 years old at the time.

The computer was donated to a museum when we found it back years later in our storage. And our wise suggestions to secure a next trophy were ignored by the head coach. We still convince ourselves that the result would have been significantly different in the event that our “novel” (naive?) ideas would have been implemented.

This is an old cuckoo clock. It is a memory of my father. We both bought this clock at a holiday in the Black Forest, when I was a kid of teen years. My father has gone two years ago and now this clock reminds me of him everyday😀

Thank you @Fleurke, @Etienne, @Lianshen, @Savi2024 and @Piwipete!! 🙂

It is super nice that you still have that clock @Piwipete!!! Because it used to be from your dad so it is very important to keep it very nicely and it reminds you of the holiday in that forest. Is that the forest where Germany was free of Rome or smt like that. I can remember the name and we thought the forest was black but i still dont know why they gave that name but i remembered it when you wrote it.

@Etienne and @Lianshen would you now buy that dog if you can get it super cheap? Or would you prefer a REALLL dog? 🙂

And @Savi2024 that computer is super heavy i think. If it falls on the floor then you can get a hole to China maybe!!!! 😛 😛

Bedankt @Piwipete!!! 🙂
