Who has visited Italy or would like to visit it?

I visited Rome with my parents and my uncle and aunt. And we also visit the Vatacan palace where the pope lives. 🙂

What did you like about Rome?

Rome was very nice because everything is very beautiful. Not just like a church or fountain but also in small streets normal houses or buildings. Everywhere. But i think the round building at a square was the nicest because it was very pretty and it makes you very calm. ❤️

But we make a big mistake the first day in a restaurant. So we eat in a restaurant and we had pasta and that was nice but the people expect you eat more! So it is not a main dish! And my mom asked my aunt are they crazy but my dad liked it and my uncle too. But I thought pasta is a main dish like pizza but that is not in Rome!! So how can you eat so much food? 🙄😧

But we make a big mistake the first day in a restaurant. So we eat in a restaurant and we had pasta and that was nice but the people expect you eat more! So it is not a main dish! I have no idea because my dad and uncle ordered food, but it was a small restaurant not far from our hotel. Everything was in Italian so they ordered what they know. But we dont want to upset the customs so when they asked about the next dish so we did that too but it was a lot of food!!

Aya, I don't think it's a good idea to submit and do things just to please restaurant owners. However, if it was written "anipasto" or ""aperitivo", it surely is the equivalent of an entrance/starter meal.
In Italy like in France, meals can be split in 8 parts or more and last for hours during festivities especially, so it certainly can be very strange for other cultures

Dear Yue, Italians eat a lot, they eat too much. In a lunch there can be an "antipasto" for example with cured meats, then a first course such as pasta, then a second course of meat or fish, then fruit, then dessert, then coffee...and bread must never be missing

I followed the coast from Palermo to Siracusa by the south, more or less. So I went to Trapani, Selinunte, Sciacca, Agrigente and some cities/villages in South East of the Island. I couldn't visit inland though because I didn't have a car, so I still have a lot to see there.

A man managed to make me eat cherry tomatoes and I think I can use this sole example to say that Sicily was very good for food, ahah. Else, among others: Arancini (I really miss it) cannoli, granita e brioche, different kind of pasta including pasta with cuttlefish ink, 1-2 pizzas, swordfish, cassatelle di ricotta for what I can remember right now.

I never missed my hometown food there, unlike in other countries I have seen!
