Cool idea! Yeeaa, but this is mostly for those who is already 18. Another ones will have problems with parents. I will be glad to invite a penpal at my place.

Actually there is a website called CouchSurfing is already organizing things like that,
and it is quite success 🙂
I agree that it is a matter of trust,
as there are actually some crimes relating to this kind of activities 🙁
Therefore, I think the best way is a have a coffee with your foreign friends,
and show him/her around the city 😉

I did it this summer-autumn with people met on this site (2), worked great both ways (they came here, I went to their place).

Just be careful, only do such things with people you trust entirely.

yes, It is really good idea.. but people need to have properly conditions to do it! I mean their own house, flat, apartment... otherwise their parents, family could be objected.
But we also can reccomend the cheapest place for accomodation and be his/ her guide 🙂
