I agree with you Daniel. If some people stop trying to impose their religion to other people, there would be more peace in the world.

It is a good question and it is hard to answer. There are so many stories in religions, to tell us how the world is made, how to think, how to treat the world, treat others, treat ourselves, etc. I think religion is an important thing on the road knowledge. The desire for power and fortune creates Wars and evils. They use religions to expand their power and change creeds to meet their needs. I think that's why religion decline.
I think often times religion and culture are mixed up too much. For me, the history of a certain country is very important and interesting and often times religions and religious conflicts are a part of it. For me personally, a religion is not necessary in todays life.
I fully agree with Daniel-Mulder. Problems come from the man, not from the religions themselves. There is the religion, and the way you interpret it. Obviously, with all what's happening in the world since many years (I'm obviously talking about people using the religion to justify their actions), I think that more and more people are getting scared and we cannot blame them for that.
Religion is not nessecary in life. No. In fact religion was meant to teach us about life in the beginning. But nowadays people forget the purpose of it. Instead of learning they worship. Religion is unfortunately misused by many higher orders of power. You can believe in god and not be religous. Religion is a label we have created that is not nessecary.
Religions are the most dangerous fairy tales ever invented, designed to elicit blind obedience, and strike fear into the hearts of the innocent and the uninformed.
i think you're as many other people ,who judge others without knowing them, and you are living under the influence of media propaganda, may i ask you if have you ever made effort to know about islam? or talk with muslims far from what you see in tv?In my opinion, it isn’t that there is a problem with the religion, but rather with the people who follow it.Like Muslims for example ... ?
“In my opinion, it isn’t that there is a problem with the religion, but rather with the people who follow it. “
(My reply to Verenius)
Umm, I am a Muslim, and if I were to be honest, what you just said doesn’t reflect well on your character; it just made it seem as if you’re one to generalise and make biased comments.
In all religions, there are people who will change and perverse the commands of their Lord.
I don’t know if you know this but in Islam, terrorism is forbidden, and it is actually considered to be something which you will go directly to hell for - such a sin is unpardonable. So, the terrorists who claim that they are “Muslims”, are not considered to be one by actual Muslims

Not all the apples are rotten, but all the current rotten apples are coming from the same basket...
There is no need of propaganda or thing like that, people are making the point of view mainly with their daily life experiences...
Make your experience:

etc.
etc.
etc.
etc.
etc.
And I, obviously, not talking of thief, violence, etc...
We sacked you countries with the Crusades, you do the same with our suicide... less merit but far more effective
It is simple, in the whole past, people never wanted you... only the industries did... you did not come as people, only as hammer or nail for our industries when we were too lazy to work... as the roman empire...
I'm rude but I do not have time to talk gently... Just did a 13h day of work while some Muslims enjoyed the Socialism...
Some Belgians do the same, but as we say "Be the worst in you home, but be impeccable in your neighbor's house"
I think that religions exists to give meaning to life, there is many opinion but I believe that some peoples need religions and some others think that religions are not "helpful", by the way, religons can be necessary for a part of the population and sometimes it can "save" peoples. I mean, I have no religion but my friend is happy with her religion and she said that it helps her, so it's good for me. But many religion had been directed by state and governement (middles ages in France it's all I know) so there are flaws in the religion texts so peoples misread and have behaviour for is religion not according to it (like wars), i speak about all the religions and not especially one ! ( (my english is awful sorry !)
I think life is about balance. Sometimes our beliefs, our faith can help us to do good in our world. Sometimes it's just the opposite. Religion is just a tool that we have in our hands, depending on how we choose to use it. I agree with most of you. Religion is not a good nor a bad thing. It's the way every one of us choose to interpret the text and follow the speech of some humans in need of domination and power. Most of them are full of anger. The anger is the problem. The energy of destruction is the problem.
