Yes I have met a few as I traveled abroad. It was great every time and we would get along right away, just like online. It's a weird feeling where you meet a complete foreigner for the very first time while also knowing them like close friends. Peculiar situation to say the least. Sometimes we stayed in touch and other times we just drifted apart. Regardless, it always makes great memories that you will keep forever.

I think it's a really interesting experience, i'd like to try it some day 🙂
Since you're the administrator of this site, i would like to propose something:
les forums n'ont pas l'air d'être remarqués, ou utilisés, et c'est vraiment dommage... n'y aurait-il pas une façon de les "booster"?
Aussi, ça serait bien de pouvoir suivre un post et de recevoir des notifications lorsqu'il y a de nouveaux commentaires. J'ai créé ce post moi-même, je m'attendais à être notifiée...
I'd been friends with someone for about 16 years, I met them for the first time last year. It wasn't awkward at all and turned out to be the most enjoyable holidays I've ever had. Hopefully he will come to England this year! I have met a few other people also, but so far none that I met first through this site.
Nice topic;
So far I've met with 7 people I knew through Internet, 2 of which were penpals from PPG. I usually meet in the context of a holiday, one time the other person came over to the region I lived.
I've lost contact with 2 of them as the contact died out. Others I speak irregular, one PenPal is more than a close friend. I learned a lot from meet-ups about myself and the people's surroundings. I made mistakes and had uncomfortable situations, but also great times that I'd easily do over. Contacts can be really different in person, especially if you don't know each other for a long time and you meet up after a couple of months.
My advice: also be careful with expressing one's interest, like or even love before you truly know them and have spent sufficient time with them.
Also make sure there is a safe context to meet up, for you and for the other person. As I usually was the person suggesting meet-ups I would have several video calls first, if under age, have one of the parents (and my own) agree with it. Nowadays it's a little easier, but I would make sure the other person is comfortable. Places I met people for the first time: Airports, train- and busstations, this actually is a really nice atmosphere.
Curious what other people's experiences are.
George.
i will meet soon a person i knew here!
