Hellooooo everybody!! 😊 Some time ago we had a forum abt dishes from all the world and also other food forums. But i chatted with @Sabri_KC about the moon festival this weekend and he had lots of nice mooncakes!!! 😛 😛 BUTTT he was super brave bc he ate DURIAN MOONCAKE!!!! This is what Durian looks like:

So i wanted to know what are the most scary dishes of the whole world ANDDDD what would u be brave to try and eat them??? If i can remember from a forum Jayyy @Based_Aura had one time Surströmming:

BUTTTT dont look up on youtube bc challenges that people eat that dish are super gross!!!! 😬🤢🤮

What other dishes should i put in the scary list?? Like for example 100 year old egg:

On the list we have so far:

Or other dishes? And would u eat anything from the list if you would get 1000 Euros to do that???? 😛 😛

I also ate BBQ Forest Spider in Cambodia and rotten Greenland Shark in Iceland

I actually really liked the taste of durian but the smell is the worst. I like Surströmming too. But I wouldn’t touch a century egg again. Tried it once and it was foul.

I’m willing to try most things, but if I had to add something to your list that I wouldn’t try, it’s balut. So gross

Yes...Durian gets a lotta hate.. but once you get past the smell ...it isn't so horrible

Stinky tofu is another one. That's become a staple at the house.. much to my dismay

Jayyy @Based_Aura did u eat ROTTEN SHARK????? 😳😳🤢🤢🤢 And tofu is actually very healthy but i dont like fermented or in super smelly way. But normal ORRRR u can mix with kimchi for example!!! 😛 😛

And @Aschei i also thought abt balut but i didnt want to add a photo bc that is really gross and also i think bit cruel or sad so i agree. But i DONT want to try Surströmming ever after i saw from youtube!!!!!

That i really cant eat but i think a lot of French people maybe also dont like it and the cheese is not only from France but also from other countries right. 🙄🙄

A lot of cheeses in France are really good, but some has a very strong smell and taste that are not for the faint hearted. Guess I’m one of them ? 😂 Like really, one day we made a dish with it, and I was unable to eat it… I was just staring at the dish, and one spoonful of it gave me nausea… 🤢

Indeed ! And I didn’t like it at all 😖 It’s the only mooncake I disliked and that I couldn’t finish… The smell was so intense, so until I tasted it I thought it was alright, but when I ate it, the first bites were fine, but then I just couldn’t process the taste. Then the smell got all over my room it was a disaster 🤦‍♂️ I had to open the windows, put air freshener, some more, and hope the smell is gone… Fortunately it is gone ! But oh bro how hard was it to get the smell away 😮‍💨

So for me, the durian theory is false 😂

Casu marzu is a cheese I would never eat, maybe never even look at from how much it disgusts me.

Cheese is not a speciality of Brittany. Casu martzu mentionned just above is far worse though. Since you mention bad smell; I have to come with another French speciality: Andouillette: it's a kind of sausage that smells like ass, literally.

I'm reluctant to eat too many things to make a list, so just let's say the strange things I'm willing to try are almost exclusively game.

Let me contribute with some ancient bizarre delicacies.

Garum was a popular fermented fish sauce in ancient Rome. Romans would combine fish intestines, blood, vinegar, honey, herbs, and spices and let this concoction ferment in the sun for several months. Although the sauce was made with the ‘throwaway’ parts of the fish, this sauce was actually pretty expensive since it took so long to make. It was also sometimes hard to find, as the sauce was only allowed to be made outside of the city due to the strong stench while it fermented.

The ancient Spartan mélās zōmós, or black soup / black broth, was a staple soup made of boiled pigs' legs, blood, salt and vinegar. It is thought that the vinegar was used as an emulsifier to keep the blood from clotting during the cooking process. According to legend, a man from Sybaris, a city in southern Italy infamous for its luxury and gluttony , after tasting the Spartans' black soup remarked with disgust, "Now I do perceive why it is that Spartan soldiers encounter death so joyfully; dead men require no longer to eat; black broth is no longer a necessity."

I think that is true and ALSOOO even if u are not starving then it can be a dish from your country that is important. BUTTTT it is also nice to just chat abt things and have fun time bc now i picture you and also Jay @Based_Aura with the whole table of the dishes from the list!!! 😛 😛 So i agree but also i like to read what people think of that scares them but maybe not others at all. 🙂
