Yes...Durian gets a lotta hate.. but once you get past the smell ...it isn't so horrible

Stinky tofu is another one. That's become a staple at the house.. much to my dismay

@Yue_ €2000 and I'll eat just about anything

Jayyy @Based_Aura did u eat ROTTEN SHARK????? 😳😳🤢🤢🤢 And tofu is actually very healthy but i dont like fermented or in super smelly way. But normal ORRRR u can mix with kimchi for example!!! 😛 😛

And @Aschei i also thought abt balut but i didnt want to add a photo bc that is really gross and also i think bit cruel or sad so i agree. But i DONT want to try Surströmming ever after i saw from youtube!!!!!

And im really sorryyy for all French people @Etienne, @Lianshen, @Sabri_KC and @Aooo but i really am SCARED of the French white and blue cheese that smell like feet!!! That i really cant eat but i think a lot of French people maybe also dont like it and the cheese is not only from France but also from other countries right. 🙄🙄

I offer a better deal at 1900 €

Kiviak begins with hundreds of small seabirds stuffed into a seal skin. The seal is sewn shut, sealed with fat, and buried under rocks for several months to ferment. When it is finally opened, the birds are eaten raw. Fans call it a cherished Arctic delicacy; everyone else usually calls it a biological experiment that somehow became dinner. 🤢😅

You mean the Rocquefort ? Ohh don’t worry, I can’t handle the taste neither 😆

A lot of cheeses in France are really good, but some has a very strong smell and taste that are not for the faint hearted. Guess I’m one of them ? 😂 Like really, one day we made a dish with it, and I was unable to eat it… I was just staring at the dish, and one spoonful of it gave me nausea… 🤢

But i chatted with @Sabri_KC about the moon festival this weekend and he had lots of nice mooncakes!!! 😛 😛 BUTTT he was super brave bc he ate DURIAN MOONCAKE!!!

Indeed ! And I didn’t like it at all 😖 It’s the only mooncake I disliked and that I couldn’t finish… The smell was so intense, so until I tasted it I thought it was alright, but when I ate it, the first bites were fine, but then I just couldn’t process the taste. Then the smell got all over my room it was a disaster 🤦‍♂️ I had to open the windows, put air freshener, some more, and hope the smell is gone… Fortunately it is gone ! But oh bro how hard was it to get the smell away 😮‍💨

So for me, the durian theory is false 😂

❌ Bad smell but good taste

✅ Bad smell AND bad taste

Edited by Sabri_KC .

Casu marzu is a cheese I would never eat, maybe never even look at from how much it disgusts me.

Cheese is not a speciality of Brittany. Casu martzu mentionned just above is far worse though. Since you mention bad smell; I have to come with another French speciality: Andouillette: it's a kind of sausage that smells like ass, literally.

I'm reluctant to eat too many things to make a list, so just let's say the strange things I'm willing to try are almost exclusively game.

@Yue_ I didn’t include a picture for the same reasons 🤮

Let me contribute with some ancient bizarre delicacies.

Garum was a popular fermented fish sauce in ancient Rome. Romans would combine fish intestines, blood, vinegar, honey, herbs, and spices and let this concoction ferment in the sun for several months. Although the sauce was made with the ‘throwaway’ parts of the fish, this sauce was actually pretty expensive since it took so long to make. It was also sometimes hard to find, as the sauce was only allowed to be made outside of the city due to the strong stench while it fermented.

The ancient Spartan mélās zōmós, or black soup / black broth, was a staple soup made of boiled pigs' legs, blood, salt and vinegar. It is thought that the vinegar was used as an emulsifier to keep the blood from clotting during the cooking process. According to legend, a man from Sybaris, a city in southern Italy infamous for its luxury and gluttony , after tasting the Spartans' black soup remarked with disgust, "Now I do perceive why it is that Spartan soldiers encounter death so joyfully; dead men require no longer to eat; black broth is no longer a necessity."

In Malmö, there is a disgusting food museum, the exhibit has 80 of the world’s most disgusting foods. Here is the hall of fame.

I offer a better deal at 1900 €

Ok €1950

Hmmm...I'm sticking firm on €1950.. AND i get to record a farewell video for Guppibell to watch when she's old enough to understand my sacrifice.. AND each member of PPG donates €10 to Jing and Guppibell, in the event of my untimely passing 🙂. This on top of the €1950 🙂

I offer a better deal at 1900 €

I dont have that much money but if i had then u and Jay @Based_Aura would have to eat the whole list of scary dishes!!!!! Btw i think what @Jabmax and @diogenes_cask wrote and also the rotten shark and the balut are the WORST dishes!!!!!

And @Based_Aura i meant with the kimchi tofu INSTEAD of the smelly tofu!!!

So if anybody is not eating breakfast when reading this forum, this is the whole list now:

➡️ Durian Mooncakes (@Sabri_KC)

➡️ BBQ Forest Spider (@Based_Aura)

➡️ Rotten Greenland Shark (@Based_Aura)

➡️ Balut (@Aschei)

➡️ Stinky tofu (@Based_Aura)

➡️ Kiviak (@Jabma😆

➡️ Casu marzu (@Miss_Penpal)

➡️ Andouillette (@Lianshen)

➡️ Mélās zōmós (@diogenes_cask)

➡️ Garum (@diogenes_cask)

➡️ 100 year old egg (@Yue_)

➡️ Surströmming (@Yue_)

And @Korisnik and Jay @Based_Aura will eat all the dishes from this list BUTTTT would the people from this list eat THEIR OWN DISH they mentioned for 1000 Euros???? 😛 😛 And does anybody have more dishes for the list?? 🙂 Maybe Japanese Fugu if anybody is super brave??? Or insects that you would not be afraid to eat?? 😳😬🙄🙄
Now seriously, I would eat whatever is on the table because I am happy that I have money to buy food. Imagine how would some starving person from Sahel feel if he see this forum

I think that is true and ALSOOO even if u are not starving then it can be a dish from your country that is important. BUTTTT it is also nice to just chat abt things and have fun time bc now i picture you and also Jay @Based_Aura with the whole table of the dishes from the list!!! 😛 😛 So i agree but also i like to read what people think of that scares them but maybe not others at all. 🙂

There seem to be a pattern; are the disgusting food mainly from EAst/South East Asia + Northern Europe, or is it just that we lack data from some countries, including South America, Africa, Central Asia?

Hellooooo everybody!! 😊 Some time ago we had a forum abt dishes from all the world and also other food forums. But i chatted with @Sabri_KC about the moon festival this weekend and he had lots of nice mooncakes!!! 😛 😛 BUTTT he was super brave bc he ate DURIAN MOONCAKE!!!! This is what Durian looks like:

📸️

So i wanted to know what are the most scary dishes of the whole world ANDDDD what would u be brave to try and eat them??? If i can remember from a forum Jayyy @Based_Aura had one time Surströmming:

📸️

BUTTTT dont look up on youtube bc challenges that people eat that dish are super gross!!!! 😬🤢🤮

What other dishes should i put in the scary list?? Like for example 100 year old egg:

📸️

On the list we have so far:

➡️ Durian

➡️ Surströmming

➡️ 100 year old egg

Or other dishes? And would u eat anything from the list if you would get 1000 Euros to do that???? 😛 😛

1&2 What's that?

3 If a fast-food company made it 100 years ago yes, because it's all preservatives anyway.

Add bottle gourd (lauki), bitter gourd (karela) and tinda (IDK English name) in one stew or mix, that's the ticket to hell.

Durian is a fruit but it smells like feet from dead people and some people think the taste is also terrible but others think it is actually good. So it depends if u like it or not.

And Surströmming from the list is fish in a can but it is fermented or in any case smells like rotten fish and there are lot of challenges on youtube when people try to eat it. BUTTTT im not sure if maybe u also get sick just from looking at the videos!!!!! 🙄😬😵‍💫
