A few people mentioned video calls: I like the idea, but I feel like it could easily be abused for all kinds of things. Have any of you done video calls with strangers on other platforms? If so, what was your experience?
@Yue_: text color is easy to add but contents would get very messy real fast. That's why social networks don't do colors: MySpace did many many years ago and it didn't last long π
Hey @Etienne , I agree. Video chats can be a little scary to think of, even tho those calls are cool. I love doing them. But I feel like maybe a normal call, just withiut video would be a better alternative at first? It's not that huge of a step and we could test that at first.

Voice clips can do just that if you think about it Β―\_(γ)_/Β― (some people use them but it's not a very popular feature)
@Etienne@Colin_Der_Backfisch i agree ,please for our minors and efen for us adults dont do video chats here, thats why i like it here because our minors,and efen we are safe here because of all the settings you make etienne, im proud of your ppg, i have a lots of good people if learned from and wrighting ketters wirh some of them π€²π€π₯°π―

Normally u can change for dark mode and for light mode..
As a parent I must agree with Fleurke and other recent voices on this platform that raised concern about the interaction between adults and minors. Current safeguards may suffice for a forum feature and private text messaging, but I am not convinced that instant video calls would be desirable in the absence of stringent security measures. As previous cases on other social media platforms have repeatedly demonstrated: it does not suffice to have default security settings and a report functionality which largely imposes self-responsibility on minors. Unfortunately, I have seen the effects of online abuse and harassment within my circle of friends and acquaintances and it is a horrific phenomenon which this penpal site should vigorously try to avoid.
All other suggestions made above seem positive and - at least at first sight - harmless.

Are you referring to private conversations in dark mode? Because red on dark isn't easy on the eyes. Greyish shades aren't ideal either but it's subject to change

In instagram u can use a buton to translate a message to englisch or ur own langiage , it would be good if ppg also had it so we can comunicate better!

I'm not too sure yet, there are a couple of issues I need to fix first before I bring something new to the table

I'd love to bring auto translate everywhere but unfortunately it is costly and PPG can't afford it (that's why it's only available in the forum and only for non English posts as of today). Maybe one day, though
honestly about features i trust on @Etienne I see this site as also a safe place for minors, so I don't see the interests of adults (because adults have more options and can move from here at any time).
But maybe if you have a feature that can add the fun in conversation, like gifs, maybe you can consider updating it? π

When you guys say gif, do you mean uploading your own gif file or being able to search through a gif bank? I assume the latter
Can i maybe also add that of all the tips and ideas: i just wanted with this forum that we can think abt stuff together with @Etienne. BUTTT there is not a rush or that we expect that everything happens really fast. Just to give maybe nice ideas and share them with u @Etienne that is all. So when u like smt and have time that is great: but if u are busy with other things that is of course NOTTT a problem!! ππ
