Hi there,
Anyone out there who plays any instruments? If so, which one(s)? Is there one you would like to learn to play but haven't yet?
hii @EllieA!! ๐ i play piano but i would like to learn to play guqin. that is a chinese instrument but i dont know if you like that. and you? ๐๐
Hi Yue_
I have never heard of guqin, but just listened to a song in Youtube and liked it very much.
I play the kalimba (thumb piano), and would love to learn to play the piano and the clarinet (and try out many more!).
One of my favorite songs on the kalimba is "Chengdu".
Im also learning to play the mandolin
I imagine the guqin and mandolin are not easy to learn... Same with the violin.
Violin is such a beautiful instrument as well.
I think it is super beautiful the sound. This is my favourite from guqin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0AAFhx3RmA I hope you maybe like it too! ๐

Mandolin is not thรกt difficult.
I know erhu and can play abit
I play piano, bouzoukis, guitars and double bass. I always wanted to play some of the woodwinds but all of my attempts have remained in the level of epic fails.
I used to play piano, flute and alt flute. These days I play pan flute. I would love to be able to play drums though.
Pan flute is beautiful...
I used to play the drums as a teenager and would have loved to go on, but the neighbors wouldn't have been too happy so it wasn't possible. It's a lot of fun though - hopefully you'll get to try some day!
Quite a few instruments I have to google to learn what they are - thanks for sharing, everyone.
I doubt I'd have the motivation or talent to actually learn one, knowing me I wouldn't stay consistent with practice either. But if I would, I've always loved e-guitars, so maybe first a normal guitar and then the e-guitar. Or drums! Maybe Violaine (Something's written wrong, idk what tho) or the flute. Way too many cool ones lol, but as said firt choice would be guitar/e-guitar

If you wish to play electric guitar: you do not necessarily need to take the detour of playing on an acoustic guitar first. There are some theoretical benefits in following this old mantra, but these are negligible and can torpedo the โfun bitโ if you aim to play along with your favourite songs. Playing guitar should be entertaining or your guitar will become a dusty wooden ornament in your living room.
The choice of a first guitar largely depends on your style of music. As regards your first amplifier with build in speaker: the Boss Katana 50 is one of the best options to consider. It simulates various famous amp types and has a number of stock effects. Quite versatile and sufficient power on tap to gig on stage. It also has an aux in + headphone jack which may be useful in the event that higher sound levels may not be appreciated by any neighbours or room mates that you may have. It is a rather cheap option and has much more to offer than the usual alternatives in the same price range.
In the event of irregular practice times: opt for one of the online powerhouses for guitar instruction (Guitar Tricks has several foundational courses for beginners in various styles).
Any questions: just send a shout out or post in the below chain. Good luck and have fun!
