Because those cultures are very interesting and different from our cultures. Plus many things that people love come from those countries

I don't know, but their "exoticism" and dissimilarity is more attractive to me, than any other from the world. It's just like different civilisation in some aspects. I like that.

Owww because of the nice food, korean and other asian series on netflix and viki 😛, and more food (sorryyy), music (kpop and my mom likes also super dino china pop), travelling, shopping, cosmetics, family, historyy and LOTTSSS of other reasons!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

People like the food,the anime,the series,k-drama and k-pop…

To tell the truth, I like East Asian culture too. It's not THE thing I admire the most, but it's quite immersive and enjoyable 🙂

It's in all areas. Food rich in flavors that are unfamiliar to us, books marketed worldwide, admirable philosophical wisdom and a pop culture that reaches its peak day by day.

No wonder many people are interested in this set of cultures that are both mystical and open. Japan, Korea, China, etc... I also think that the audiovisual industry has contributed a lot to the spread of this culture in the world so that it becomes what it is today 😃 so there are many adherents to this culture.

The only downside is that the obsessed part of the community, who we often hear about, tends to "gatekeep" this East Asian culture.

In my experience, I've seen people insult and disrespect other people for a simple joke about anime, or a girl who insulted me because I made a joke about BTS. 🙁

I don't understand why they center this culture and make it their entire identity to the point where a simple joke that anyone, even you, could appreciate can turn them into people who personally attack anyone who disagrees with them.

South Korea has some weird ways of doing things, near esclavagism and state boosted cultural content, so they have like cheap products on the international market, yet with good quality;coupled with a cult of appearance where citizens are often pushed to perform surgeries to change their face (I will always remember that ads : "your boyfriend dumped you? Get a surgery and he will come back!")

If you take things like that into consideration, then you can get some hints about how a country becomes extremely popular.

For Japan, the production of cheap anime and mangas helped to spread their culture back then, but Occident (or at least France) always had a kind of fascination for Japan due to their culture that is both very different, yet very similar to occidental mindset.

Nowadays, there are probably other reasons that also play in favour of being interested in those countries : It's safer and have highly developed civilization (although Japan at least is not going so well anymore).

From my perspective ,it is because Occidental culture is RATHER unique and people tend to feel curious about the things they don't know. languages, food, culture, etc.🤔 but not know them very well to be honest.

For example ,I don't know much about European history but I really fancy the architecture there, though I really didn't know the exact name of the style and the story behind such things.True! The most important is the shape and color which capture the attention at first place.
