This watermill on the Maalbeek is the only still working example in West Flanders and dates back to the 15th century. During the Ancien RΓ©gime, the farm was located on the territory of the lordship 'Wulfskerke, gheseit ter Moten'. Later the name was corrupted to Walskerke.

At the time, the watermill also had a savings pond. This was located in the meadow on the other side of the current Walskerkestraat. There you can still clearly see the sinking in the ground and there are still brick remains of the lock of the savings pond. The iron wheel was built in 1907 and is of the intermediate stroke type.
