I actually mean upside down so with the belly up and the back down! πŸ˜›
Hoverflies can fly backwards. They can also fly on their backs.

A new science question

Ok we need to find out something else today!! This is a new question:

➑️ How long do you think that flies and birds can fly upside down? And I have the same question for animals in sea: how long can they swim upside down?

You can try to search the answer online or just make a guess!! πŸ˜› And can you also explain the answer or guess? I know that we can solve this too right!! πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ˜‡

I found an animal named Upside-down jellyfish. They often float upside down in the sea.πŸ™ƒπŸ™ƒ
They are also a spectator animal!

I actually mean upside down so with the belly up and the back down! πŸ˜›
No they can not hhhhh

Hoverflies can fly backwards. They can also fly on their backs.
I didt know

So we found out:

- Hoverflies can fly upside down as @mabah said

- An upside down jellyfish can do that while swimming as @nmddbn said

I found out that sharks cannot go upside down or they get in a sleeping state!!! You can read here about tonic immobility: https://www.sharktrust.org/tonic-immobility So if you have a shark and put him with the belly up they are like asleep or in a trance. Here is a video of tiger sharks and tonic immobility: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NErt6zP2MBI

So next time you want to drink a tonic you get a sleeping shark!! πŸ˜› 🦈🦈🦈

Maybe @Lianshen and @Miss_Penpal know more (Lianshen knows a lot about animals and Miss_Penpal loves the sea and water animals too). 😊😊

Right now I can't think of any animal that can go upside down( I knew about the sharks, but it's already been said), but I have a fun fact about jellyfishes.
There is a species of jellyfish called 'Immortal jellyfish' (or Turritopsis dohrnii) that is the perfect example of a life cycle. When it dies, it's body sinks and begins to decay, but instead of just disappearing after some time like any other dead animal, it's cells start to regenerate and then become new baby jellyfishes!
The cycle goes like this: A jellyfish dies, planula larvas appear from the dead jellyfish, they grow into polyp, then become budding polyp, then becomes an ephyra, that then grows into a new jellyfish.

Wowww that is really cool to know @Miss_Penpal!!! Maybe it is actually a good idea if you can live one year in the underwater city and see everything close! πŸ™‚ That would be really cool i think! 😊😊

I did not know that fact.
Nature is so great and so wise!!!

Conclusion what we found out

So we now know some flying animals and swimming animals can do that upside down like the hoverfly and the upside down jellyfish. You can see them here: https://bna-naturalists.org/id-guide-hoverflies/ and here https://australian.museum/learn/animals/jellyfish/upside-down-jellyfish/

And we also found out that sharks fall asleep upside down and that is called tonic immobility. But if you do that with a white shark you are eaten first so dont try that!! πŸ˜› 🦈🦈

And as @Miss_Penpal explained there is an Immortal jellyfish that if it dies there are new jellyfishes that come out of it! Online i saw news that called it the jellyfish that never dies!! πŸ˜› Here is that news: https://www.bbcearth.com/news/the-jellyfish-that-never-dies

Thank you everybody that helped with this science question!! πŸ†πŸ†πŸ₯‡πŸŽ—οΈπŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“

A new science question for curious members πŸ˜›

Today I have a question I am curious about and maybe you have ideas:

➑️ Which human things are difficult to explain with biology, physics and chemistry?

I think for example about dreaming 😴, love ❀️and if you believe in supranatural things (like spirits or if something is haunted πŸ‘») also that. I know that some parts of dreaming and love are biology, but maybe not everything??? And maybe there are other human things that cant be explained like that?

Is for everyone Love and all the other feelings the same?, What color is fir you red and for me and what color is for u blue and for me (the colors and their differences)?, How is it possible that if twins one of them travels with speed of light and the other is on earth WHY is the earth one ealdering faster then the other one?!, Why the fΓΌck are we feeling any feelings?!, What is for a human Biology, Chemistry and Physics: I mean one of them says EVERY THING IS BUILT WITH ATOMS, the other says WE ARE BUILT WITH ZELLS, the last is saying: WE CONSIST OF PARTICLES. WHO THE … IS SAYING THE TRUTH?! (I know all) BUT WHAT THE HELL SHOULD I BELIVE?!

Why does no one wants to travel with speed of light I want to but no one is asking everyone is telling it is not good.

Thank you @Esma-Nur !! I believe that a LOTTT can be explained by biology, physics and chemistry and i dont think that they say things that are impossible between each other. But I dont think that they can explain ALL human things.

For example we hear that if you love someone than biology can tell a lot why you love THAT person maybe sooner than another person. And that is maybe true. But I think it is not ONLY biology that can explain it. I think that there are some parts of emotions and feelings that even biology maybe cant explain at least not fully. πŸ™„πŸ™„

And for example if you believe in supranatural things, physics and chemistry cant explain it like @Etienne said in the true and false forum on page 8. But maybe there are more things that physics and chemistry (and biology) cant explain fully. But A LOTTTT of course can. πŸ§¬πŸ”βš—οΈπŸŽ“

And for what can't be explained by science maybe it is religion (and people believe different things of course and that is good)! πŸ™‚ Or maybe it is something that nobody knows yet. That is something I am very curious about always but i think science is nice later at university because you can try to find new things. πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“ I think there will always be new thinks that are discovered. That is what I hope later too if I can do that perhaps. πŸ™

I think almost everything related to humans is (very) difficult to explain or study. Be it behaviour, genetic, population, physiology... Even when you have a potential explanation, then some people start to become very upset!

Potentially, you can explain everything with physics, then chemistry, then biology. However, I think it's a little bit sad to reduce love, dream and other stuff as simple molecules interracting with each others. For love, for instance, you could say that it's because of genetics, some chemical interractions in the brain mainly, but also that it's because both people were at the same place at the right moment and try to find an "infinite" chain of causes and consequences... which, in the end, would just be an equivalent to say that they were meant to love each others πŸ˜‰

Thank you VERY MUCH @Lianshen!!! Merci beaucoup!! πŸ˜› I like it a lot what you say. Because I think you can explain a lot with science but not EVERYTHING. And sometimes they write things for example about biology and love but it may be true for some people but not others so it does not always explain everything right? For example i read this about the topic but not everything is the same for everybody: https://www.mountelizabeth.com.sg/health-plus/article/the-science-behind-why-we-fall-in-love

And if some things are different for every person, how can you explain that with science right? And maybe biology can explain WHY you dream but not what exactly is your dream in the night. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
