Hello!
I am writing this as a response to Yue's three questions.
1) As Theravada Buddhists, we believe that we will be reborn in a place, time and a form which would be decided upon the deeds we have done in the previous lives. Since Samsara is an endless cycle, we accumulate a lot of Karma along our way. There are some beliefs among us Buddhists about our next lives which we can use as assumptions. For example, most of us believe that a person who does not engage in generous acts will be born poor in his next lives, and the one who does will be born rich. Karma is not relevant only to your current life, but it is also relevant to your next lives as well.
2) Buddhist teachings are not only for Buddhists, but they are for everyone. We are taught that if one commits any deed, irrespective of any kind of discrimination, he gets the relevant result. So, even if a person is a Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Jew or even an atheist lives a moral, good life, he finally gets what he deserves. This is the teaching we find in all religions ultimately - do good things and you'll get good results.
3) Buddhists do not have specific wedding rituals, but we Sinhalese do have some rituals connected with our religion. Buddha has never preached about specific wedding rituals, but he has given some advices for married couples to live a peaceful life. Speaking of our Sinhalese traditions, they are mainly focused on the Poruwa ceremony, where the bride and the bridegroom stand on small stage and are given blessings. It's filled with so many emotional moments, especially when both of them thank their parents for raising them up in such an emotional way. Anyway, it is a very vibrant ceremony. Hope these answer your questions Yue!
And what happened, when a moslim girl whill marry a christian boy or a jewish or a buddish or an atheist boy…love between girls and boys has nothing to doo with religion!!!
at some part i agree, yes, love would grow even without seeing the religion, but for religious people, marriage isn't only to unite the couple but also to complete almost half prayer to God (especially for moslem & christian, CMIIW) And i think (with all of my respect), it's better to leave them alone and respect their belief 😇. You can visit this forum to enlighten you why is not allowed to marry in different religion
