Those are beautiful Yue! 😊🙏

“Our memory is a more perfect world than the universe: it gives back life to those who no longer exist.” ― Guy de Maupassant

I like that quote a lot @diogenes_cask but it is also important that you remember persons who died. We have an altar and we always put fruits or foods that they liked to eat or a cup of tea for them and we burn incense for prayers and sending well wishes. For us that is very important. 🌸🌼🌻🙏🙏

“The future has several names. For the weak, it is impossible; for the fainthearted, it is unknown; but for the valiant, it is ideal.” ― Victor Hugo

"A book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us." ---- Franz Kafka

And here the context for the Quote, @diogenes_cask mentioned, in German:

And here in English:
"I think you should only read books that bite and sting you. If the book we're reading doesn't wake us up with a punch to the skull, why are we reading it? So that it makes us happy, as you write? My God, we would be happy even if we didn't have books, and we could write the books that make us happy ourselves if need be. But we need books that affect us like a misfortune that hurts us very much, like the death of someone we liked better than us, like being cast out into the woods, away from all people, like a suicide, a book must be the axe for the frozen sea within us."

And I would like to add: The same applies to healers.
Healers definitly have to be the axe for the frozen sea within us.

Best wishes
Christine

I tried to translate WITHOUT GOOGLE what Christine wrote but i did use my dictionary too sorry!! 😛

I think, you have to read the books which bite and are stingy. When the book that we read does not hit you, why do we read that book? If it makes us happy, how do you write? My God, we were also happy when we did not have books. And books which make us happy we can write them also ourselves. We need the books that work like an accident, which hurt us, like the death, then we love like when we are pushed away from all the people, like killing yourself, a book must be the axe for the frozen lake in us.

Sorry if i made mistakes but i think it means something like that. But some words i did not understand completely EVEN with the dictionary bc they made not really sense so i guessed it what he wanted to say.

Hi Yue,

I added the English version in my post. Which words didn`t you understand?
I think quotes shouldn`t be altered. And there was a interpretation error.

But I really appreciate your effort.

Danke sehr Christine!! 😛 So these two parts i did not understand but i read it now in your English part:

"Damit es uns glücklich macht, wie Du schreibst?" I thought it was "If it makes us happy, how do you write?" but that would be strange. And also: "wie der Tod eines, den wir lieber hatten als uns, wie wenn wir in Wäldern verstoßen würden," and i thought it meant: "like the death, then we love like when we are pushed away but i know some words were away but i just could not translate it with only the dictionary so i had to guess.

But you are right that it is a quote and you are not allowed to change it but i did not know how to translate it completely! 😛

And don`t get me wrong, Yue.
You are allowed to interpret quotes
but not to translate it incorrectly.

Good night

Yes i know it is not allowed to translate incorrectly but it was not on purpose bc some parts i just did not understand. But I am happy that you also wrote it in English! 😊😊🙏🙏
