The original question:
The langauges are diffrent we may understand some words but its still a compleatly diffrent language. Its like swedish and danish and norwegian for example. They can understand eachother somewhat but not fully. And in my opinion the writing is harder to understand but speaking is pretty easy for undertanding estonian.
As for the argument weather finns are brainless:
Yea no it depends on who you talk with and where they are from. Im from the countryside so i am more traditional and religious than a person from Helsinki. Or any other city. City people are more welcoming to foreingers cause they are kinda forced to be and they are raised in a more welcoming but still tighter environment. But scientificly we have one off the highest iq scores.
And rigth none off you know finland as a whole after knowing two people. Thats just utterly foolish. But i can say i know Finland quite well. Cause im 100% finnish blood and have relatives from most regions.
Yes we are distand we belive personal space is importnat and we dont waste our time trying to be fake nice as i always see on the internet and movies and all that. We say things as they are. Changing the way you say it dosent change facts. So why bother.
And yes finland has changed and i dont really like that. Its gotten more more diverse for example. Its gone so far i avoid specific citys and places. And another thing is internet. Internet changes finlands identity many young people dont even speak proper finnish anymore despite being native finns. I just find that sad. And young people are also stupid they dont appriciate what they have and how lucky they are to be born in finland. As i am writing this i suddenly feel like a old grandma.
But i belive the original question wasnt if we are stupid here so lets keep the conversation in topic and try to act like mature adults.
Thank you!
I always thought it might be something like US English and British English. Now I know there are very distinct differences. Remember, to my ears and eyes, it sounds very similar.
As to the intelligence of Finns. Finland tops the world in literacy rates, so that must mean something.
It wasn't that I was particularly upset about Finns being distant or aloof. I actually kind of liked it. No pointless civility when it wasn't necessary. It DID make breaking the ice, as we say, difficult. Americans are all about vibes and chemistry. It's annoying, but when you're born and raised in an environment, it rubs off on you. Outgoing and extroverted are the order here. Reserved tends to be perceived as standoffish. Like when I was at a bar in Helsinki once. I met a really cool girl and things seemed to be going well, but i couldn't really tell if she was interested or not and so, I defaulted to the "not."
That said. Thank you for answering this burning question 🙂
