We celebrate the birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Christmas. (25./26. Dec.) Holy Eve is the evening before He was born at night.
The most important is the Holy Mass on these days. We prepare with prayers and the sacraments. Of course, there are many beautiful traditions around these days: advent calendar/garland, the Christmas tree, nativitiy scene, nativity role play of the children.
Jesus was born in a stable, in poverty. For me, it makes little sense to make Christmas a shopping event. The best gift is He Himself, the holy Child in the Cradle.

I think it depends if you celebrate Christmas bc of religion if you are Christian or if it is abt culture and tradition that you like. I think both are good and nice. So everybody can decide what they want.
For shopping i like to buy just small gift like for example for my dad i bought this year funny socks bc he ONLY has super boring ones so it is just small gift but also for fun. ๐ And for my mom i am not sure yet but i think for cooking which she likes. But small gifts are only to show extra that you care and i think it is a nice tradition. But the most important is with family and that you have time together.
I am curious for anybody who reads this forum: what are your plans for Christmas? We will go tomorrow to family in Rotterdam and we stay there until end of 1st Christmas Day. I hope everybody has a really nice Christmas celebration!!! ๐๐๐

We get abt most religions in school so i think everybody in my school knows abt Christmas and also most other religious important days. But i also like that there is tradition and not only religious. So both together is nice and everybody can like what they want from it.
So for example if ppl go to church i think that is nice and important for them. That is really good. But if ppl like Christmas also for example to be super close with family and that you celebrate together with small gifts and dinner that is also nice. And i think a nice tradition is also to watch shows like All you need is love and they bring ppl together like who live very far away from each other so they can celebrate Christmas together.
And today is even Christmas Movie Marathon Day:
But i think it is not abt the movies or the gifts but that for ppl who are religious that they celebrate that and for other ppl that they celebrate that you are with ppl who are really close to you and that you have time together with family. Like my dad he works a LOTTTTT but with Christmas he really has time for it and my mom too. So if we go to family or if you do other stuff together than you have really time for each other. I think that is for us maybe most important with Christmas. And that can be with dinner or movie or funny show or game or anything as long as we are together and have time for it. But we go today to family and stay there and spend time together which i think is really nice. ๐
Sure, spending time with family is nice. And spending time with family on Christmas is nice, too. But Christmas is simply the birthday of Jesus Christ and that is the "topic" of this day, the actual meaning. Just to avoid confusion. ๐
