Hahah I’m pretty sure everyone feels that about foreign languages.
Naah only swedish
Ahahah, Im not sure actually! I don’t think it’s that difficult, but I’m very biased since Swedish is my native language… lolWe have 3 extra characters that English doesn’t have, which is Å, Ä and Ö. I don’t know if you already know how to pronounce them, but I will try to explain to everyone who would like to know!
Å = like the ”o” in ”or”
Ä = like the ”eah” in ”yeah”
Ö = like the ”u” in ”nurse”
We have some words that I’ve heard is difficult to pronounce if Swedish isn’t your first language. Like ”sjuksköterska” for example. I won’t be able to describe how it sounds so please use google translate to listen to the word 😭🙏
anyways, I also think Swedish and German is pretty similar! I studied German in elementary school for 4 years and I would say that German is like a mix of English and Swedish 🇸🇪.
Thanksss very much @ChibuTea ☺️☺️ Sorry that i reply super late but it was REALLLYYY busy the last 3 days bc the rest of the week in school is most abt Christmas and project but not regular classes anymore.
I thought was really funny what you write with @Torakka abt Swedish and Finnish and i think i cant say ANYTHING bc Dutch is also super difficult and my language from my parents is mainland Chinese so that is for European ppl very difficult too!!! And even when we speak it a lot at home, my dad says i still make 8921712 mistakes every time. So maybe Swedish and Finnish are not the most difficult languages but Dutch and Chinese can be!!! 😛 😛
And @Wolkenpaule i think at least a lot of words that @ChibuTea wrote are like Dutch and also German i guess. Like for example: Det like dat in Dutch, du like you in German, pratar like praten in Dutch, riktigt like richtig in German (i dont remember if i write this correctly but i remember it), cool like cool in ANY language bc it is English and the same for hobbys and boba tea and för is i think like für in German and voor in Dutch. But if im honest the rest is VERY different!!! 😃 So both similar and different. 🙂

Ahahahah but omg that’s still so cool that you can speak Chinese aswell! Yes, I think objectively that Chinese might be the hardest language…my bestfriend speak it at home and she always tells me how ridiculously difficult it is🙏
And yes you put words in what I wanted to say! Thank you! When I learned German in school I felt like there where many similar words and it made me pick up understanding for the language much quicker I think. How similar is Dutch and German?

In our school sometimes others ask like if you write Chinese do you have super big keyboard bc there are a LOTTTTTTT of characters but you can just type how you say it and select character or you can draw with your finger and it comes on the screen. But i still make a lot of mistakes and i think sometimes it is embarrassing if we are for example with family in Nanjing. But they just laugh if i say smt really stupid and wrong.
And in Dutch we sometimes make a joke that we can understand German ppl BUTTT they cant understand us. Or at least not so easy in the same way!!! BUTTTT i know @Piwipete can also speak Dutch and @Colin_Der_Backfisch has a lot of times been in The Netherlands and i taught him super important Dutch stuff as well!!! 😛 😛 And i dont know abt others like @Txya, @H_E_A_R_T, @HappyvomSee, @Emmiiii_17_11 and @Wolkenpaule if they can understand Dutch super easily. 🙄🙄🙄
@Yue_
You are right. It is not easy for a german to understand dutch. But at least I understand a lot if I read dutch. Not every single word but the meaning basically yes. There is a dutch word ("het") which sense I don`t really get, because it it often used in different contexts. Maybe you can help out....
Hello! How are you?
2️⃣ That is super nice!! Det er super fedt!!
3️⃣ You speak faster than i can hear!! Du snakker hurtiger end hvad jeg kan høre!!
4️⃣ That is really funny!! Det er virkelig sjovt!!
5️⃣ Cool!!! (But say it in way how you would say it in your language) Fedt!
6️⃣ I love you!!! Jeg elsker dig!
7️⃣ What are your hobbies? Hvad er dine hobbier?
8️⃣ Do you like bubble tea? Kan du lide bubble tea?
9️⃣ I hope maybe we can meet soon!!! Jeg håber snart vi kan mødes!
🔟 (Can you write a really funny and cool word in your language under 10 and maybe explain what it means?)
Det hele sejler - it all sails: it's when everything is kinda messy and nothing is going like it's supposed too.
1️⃣1️⃣ New sentence from @vtt3613: I am sorry, I can't speak (put your language here). Can you speak English?
Jeg er ked af det, jeg snakker ikke dansk. Kan du engelsk?

I can help with it bc it is super easy. 🙂 Ok so "het" means "the" in English. So for "the" normally you say "de" but sometimes "het". In German it is a LOTTTTTTT more difficult bc you have to write der des dem den (male) die der der die (female) das des dem das (it) and die der den die (multiple) if i dont make a mistake!!! 😛 😛 BUTTTT when exactly you use which one is VERYYY difficult. At least that is what we think in the WHOLEEE class!!!!!!!
So still abt "het": it can also be used for "it". So if you say can you give it, you can say: kun je het aangeven. So "het" means the same as "it". SOOO what you need to do is look if after "het" comes a noun and if yes it is like "the" and if there is not a noun it means normally "it". 🙂
I hope that is not super confusing!!!!! 😛 😛

Thankssss very much @Vixie!!! I added it also in the list above that you wrote the Danish answers!!!! 🙂 Can i ask a question @Vixie, @ChibuTea, @Torakka and @Borboletagirl: it is same like German-Dutch what i chatted with @Wolkenpaule but how much can you understand from each other of Danish, Finnish and Swedish? At least some or is COMPLETELY different everything?

Finnish dosent have anything in common with other nordick languages. It is a Finno-Ugric language (prob not written correctly but you get it) so Finnish shares the same language family with Estonian and hungarian. Where as other nordicks are germanic languages. And The only reason as why I can understand swedish is that we are forced to learn it at school.
But in conclusion other nordicks can understand eachother and Finland can not at all.

Thanksss i did not know that at all. I never thought that Finnish and Estonian and Hungarian are similar. 😊😇

I think there’s a general understanding of the other languages, I’ve spoken purely Danish to some who responded I pure Sweden and though it was a bit hard to understand I did feel we could hold a conversation. I think German is a bit harder for me since it’s a language I don’t feel coming as flowing as English, but I had a friend from Germany and I understood a bit here and there in her conversations with her parents and sister.
Thankssss @Torakka and @Vixie!! 🙂 Maybe if i write only in Dutch or perhaps mandarin Chinese i am curious how much ppl REALLY understand from it!! 😛 😛 Can i ask everybody who wants to answer it: what languages do you get in school? In my country it depends but Dutch, English, French and German are normal BUTTT you can in a lot of schools also do Spanish or Latin and ancient Greek.

In Denmark in public schools you have Danish from first grade to tenth grade, English(mandatory) from second to tenth grade. And in fifth grade you can choose between German and French. At other schools like private and such you can have Latin, Spanish and other languages✌️
@Torakka, @ChibuTea, @Wolkenpaule and @Vixie and anybody who wants to say it: if you can learn a NEW language which language do you want to learn the most?
I really want to learn Japanese, so I’m learning a bit on Duolingo😊 But it’s super hard and really REALLY difficult and different from my native language 😬😔
