I am Italian and the first article of the Constitution says:
"Italy is a democratic Republic, founded on work.
Sovereignty belongs to the people, who exercises it in the forms and limits of the Constitution."
I am both French from Algerian parents, so I'm French and Algerian.
So I'll give you the articles of the two countries 🙂
Here is the first article of the French constitution of 4th october, 1958. (current one)
"France shall be an indivisible, secular, democratic and social Republic. It shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race or religion. It shall respect all beliefs. It shall be organised on a decentralised basis. And here is the first article of the Algerian Constitution of 8th december, 1996, revised in 2020. (current one)
Statutes shall promote equal access by women and men to elective offices and posts as well as to professional and social positions."
"Algeria shall be a People’s Democratic Republic. It shall be one and indivisible."
It's interesting how most of the Constitutions of the World have their first article defining their general principles.
I like studying about constitutions 🙂 what about you ?
I am both French from Algerian parents, so I'm French and Algerian.Mine was more of a curiosity than anything else, I don't like that the first article of the Italian constitution talks about work. If I could create a nation as the first article of the constitution I would write that it is a nation founded on social life, fun and leisure.

Il primo articolo della Costituzione italiana sembra richiamare un sistema politico di tipo socialista. Non è stato scritto per caso. La cosa grave è che questo articolo viene continuamente tradito.
Mine was more of a curiosity than anything else, I don't like that the first article of the Italian constitution talks about work. If I could create a nation as the first article of the constitution I would write that it is a nation founded on social life, fun and leisure. Why though? Your ancestors indeed worked to give you the country you have now. It is not a bad thing to remind next generation that what they have is the fruit of a lot of efforts and, thus, should not be taken for granted, but cherished and improved.
I'm German, the first part of our constitution are human rights basically, the first article being:
(1) Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority.(2) The German people therefore acknowledge inviolable and inalienable human rights as the basis of every community, of peace and of justice in the world.
(3) The following basic rights shall bind the legislature, the executive and the judiciary as directly applicable law.
The one that compares to what all of you have been sharing is the 20th article, the first article of the second part, being:
(1) The Federal Republic of Germany is a democratic and social federal state.(2) All state authority is derived from the people. It shall be exercised by the people through elections and other votes and through specific legislative, executive and judicial bodies.
(3) The legislature shall be bound by the constitutional order, the executive and the judiciary by law and justice.
(4) All Germans shall have the right to resist any person seeking to abolish this constitutional order if no other remedy is available.
The Indian constitution begins with a preamble and the 1st article of the constitution is as follows -
(1) India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States. The States and the territories thereof shall be the States and their territories specified in Parts A, B and C of the First Schedule.
(2) The territory of India shall comprise —
(a) the territories of the States;
(b) the territories specified in Part D of the First Schedule; and
(c) such other territories as may be acquired.
I believe something about equalness for everyone in the netherlands
The political system of the People's Republic of China is mainly a socialist system led by the Communist Party of China, which practices people's democratic dictatorship. The Constitution is the fundamental law of the country, stipulating the basic system and political principles of the state.
One of the ugliest first constitutional articles in the world

hii @lucasar92 i dont know where to find it but i can google it for you if you want or maybe ask in our school.
Article 1
The Kingdom of the Netherlands comprises the territory of the Netherlands, Indonesia, Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles.
hii @lucasar92 that is not correct bc Suriname and Indonesia are separate countries and not from the netherlands. maybe that is a super old version?
I googled it and i came on this website in Dutch and this is it in Dutch:
Allen die zich in Nederland bevinden, worden in gelijke gevallen gelijk behandeld. Discriminatie wegens godsdienst, levensovertuiging, politieke gezindheid, ras, geslacht, handicap, seksuele gerichtheid of op welke grond dan ook, is niet toegestaan.
I will try to translate in English without mistakes: "All persons who are in the Netherlands are equal in equal situations. Discrimination because of religion, life thoughts, political view, race, male/female, handicap, sexuality or on what other ground, is not permitted.
@-Kiki- i dont know if i translated it correctly. Do you think this is right?
And i wanted to tell @Borboletagirl who made the forum Ableism and maybe it is good to know that it says that you cant discriminate because of handicaps. I dont know if that is also in other countries but it important that it is said.

I thought it was an old article of the constitution but currently maintained, in Suriname I know they speak Dutch officially so I deduce that it was yours, for Indonesia I don't know if you had colonies. Probably Google searched for the old constitution for me

The Dutch colonised Indonesia, yes.
