What is the first article of your nation's constitution ? Politics and governments

I am Italian and the first article of the Constitution says:

"Italy is a democratic Republic, founded on work.
Sovereignty belongs to the people, who exercises it in the forms and limits of the Constitution."

I am both French from Algerian parents, so I'm French and Algerian.
So I'll give you the articles of the two countries 🙂

Here is the first article of the French constitution of 4th october, 1958. (current one)

"France shall be an indivisible, secular, democratic and social Republic. It shall ensure the equality of all citizens before the law, without distinction of origin, race or religion. It shall respect all beliefs. It shall be organised on a decentralised basis.
Statutes shall promote equal access by women and men to elective offices and posts as well as to professional and social positions."
And here is the first article of the Algerian Constitution of 8th december, 1996, revised in 2020. (current one)
"Algeria shall be a People’s Democratic Republic. It shall be one and indivisible."

It's interesting how most of the Constitutions of the World have their first article defining their general principles.
I like studying about constitutions 🙂 what about you ?

Mine was more of a curiosity than anything else, I don't like that the first article of the Italian constitution talks about work. If I could create a nation as the first article of the constitution I would write that it is a nation founded on social life, fun and leisure.

Il primo articolo della Costituzione italiana sembra richiamare un sistema politico di tipo socialista. Non è stato scritto per caso. La cosa grave è che questo articolo viene continuamente tradito.

Why though? Your ancestors indeed worked to give you the country you have now. It is not a bad thing to remind next generation that what they have is the fruit of a lot of efforts and, thus, should not be taken for granted, but cherished and improved.
I actually find it muchh more better than the article that is full of hypocrisy like the current French one.

Nous sommes tous nés égaux.

Sri Lanka ( Ceylon ) is a free, Sovereign Independent and Democratic Socialist Republic and shall be known as the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri
Lanka.

I'm German, the first part of our constitution are human rights basically, the first article being:

(1) Human dignity shall be inviolable. To respect and protect it shall be the duty of all state authority.

(2) The German people therefore acknowledge inviolable and inalienable human rights as the basis of every community, of peace and of justice in the world.

(3) The following basic rights shall bind the legislature, the executive and the judiciary as directly applicable law.

The one that compares to what all of you have been sharing is the 20th article, the first article of the second part, being:

(1) The Federal Republic of Germany is a democratic and social federal state.

(2) All state authority is derived from the people. It shall be exercised by the people through elections and other votes and through specific legislative, executive and judicial bodies.

(3) The legislature shall be bound by the constitutional order, the executive and the judiciary by law and justice.

(4) All Germans shall have the right to resist any person seeking to abolish this constitutional order if no other remedy is available.
