Hello!

AI (what means artificial intelligence, for those who don't know), is the one thing in our evolution, what could reset all of our evolution and what we built up (besides nuclear weapons).

It’s not meant in the way of killing us and end all human being on earth by AI (maybe that's also possible, but not what I wanna talk about). I mean, AI is donig a lot of work for us, sounds nice at first but then it gets extrem! Chatgpt is the best example from our daylife. You go to school or work and you do your stuff, but then at home, you eat your greasy pizza and drink your way too sweet cola and get lazy... yeah then you use chatgpt to make your homework or to help you with that. What the f*ck?! Your parents must feel like you're fooling them! Their childhood was so hard to learn and everything and now you (he, she, it, we, you, they and me) are using something that tells you everything you want in less than a minute? That must be fake!

I am sure, that AI will do more and more work for us, and then it's not anymore the control of AI by humans, no it's AI controlling our evolution!

So why are we living at all? We don't have to do anything anymore! We could just lay down in bed, drink beer, eat chips and watch TV! What a fucking sad live! And it's getting real.

We prefer watching others doing stuff and cool nice things on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and all this shit, but isn't out there a real world? There? Behind your shut shades and the closed door? There might be birds, trees and flowers and not your bad air.

We are all getting zombies! It is soo sad, I could cry! YOU should live YOUR live and not the live of others on social media if you know what I mean. And I'm not better, I just wanted to share my guilty conscience with you.

So throw away this phone and enjoy the real world

Thank you for this great post!!!

You are better! You shared your thoughts.
This might change something.
I bet this resonates in a lot of users.

I would love to talk about it with my 18 year old son.
With your permission I would copy it to show him.

Thank you, ludwigwo

The way you see AI is exagerrated in my opinion. I would be highly concerned by its development that lacks ethical framework, which big companies or state don't really get bothered with, but to say that AI does everything for you - at the moment or even in the near future - is really too much (just like people saying industrial revolution would stop work... it didn't, like.. not at all...). If you let ChatGPT do all your homework without judging its creation, you will only end up with mediocre work at best, terrible most often... in addition to learn nothing and become unable to carry a simple task anymore.

Some people and companies already understood that and use it as a productivity booster rather than a people's replacement tool, because if you have knowledge in a given field, then you can correct AI's mistakes and use it to actually work better; but that's pretty much all at the moment, and it's basically the same as what we were doing for decades already (in sciences, we used "normal" AI to help us sort pictures for example; which spare us days of work...)

In that sense, I'd say that GPT is just like having an army of redditors enslaved to your will, since it many responses take their source from that hell-hole. Nonetheless, even if it was replacing us as you suggest, nothing would prevent you to paint, write a novel, go outside, do woodwork, build a house or just do your homework without using AI...
I mean here that what AI does to you in 2026 is highly dependent on the way you use it. Just use it as a support like some workers use it to boost their productivity, or if you don't have a deep knowledge in a field, then use it as a preceptor that will give you some directions or references rather than a full set of answers.

That being said, concerning our evolution as individuals/societies, I would probably give more credit to Tiktok and social medias in reducing our attention span, destroying self confidence and promoting radicalization. You don't need GPT doing your homework to end up doom scrolling at all. People have been doing so before 2022.

Compulsory training modules on AI in the legal sector have opened my eyes on the broad variety of applications which can significantly aid in a large number of daily tasks (e.g. case management, preliminary legal research and transactional support). Missing out on these opportunities is ill advised under the watchful eyes of demanding clients. There are obvious limitations when using AI and an appropriate use carrying full responsibility should be expected.

Technology doesn't have character so it's not good nor bad per se. It depends how you use it, you can use it bot for doing good or doing bad. I've noticed more of the bad use of AI so far. Another problem is wasting too much resources for operating.

Hello!

I'm glad you like this post. I'm also really worried about this topic, even in this young age. And yes for sure can copy it and show it your son, maybe it helps.

Hello Lianshen,

I don't think industrial revolution is comparable with AI, because it's doing the complete opposite. The industrial revolution caused more jobs and work for people, and the AI is taking jobs and work from people.

And you have to look in the future. Maybe AI is under control at the moment, but it's developing fast. Once a teacher told me AI is developing in 2 month as much as the humanity in the last 50 years and two month is not a lot. So what AI does in the future isn't the same as what it does today, and it's getting worse. AI is like an intelligence with an own understanding and consciousness like a human, but the scary thing is, it is not a human. And everything like that, if animal, human or the AI does not want to be controlled by something else (another human f.e.) and maybe you try to break the control. And that's the danger with AI.

We use something we think we control, but sooner or later it's controlling us if you know what I mean.

Hello Lianshen,

I don't think industrial revolution is comparable with AI, because it's doing the complete opposite. The industrial revolution caused more jobs and work for people, and the AI is taking jobs and work from people.

Many people expressed concern that machines would take their jobs back then. Same concerns are expressed with AI, but so far, companies are not replacing employees with AI agents; they are using them to boost productivity (or trying to).

My point is not to say that nothing will happen in the future, but right now or in the near future; AI is not going to take your job so fast. The effects would be more subtles than that...

What you describe here is shifting from your initial post and hasn't to do much with just AI taking your job and people slacking off all day doing nothing. I stressed out that I was talking about AI now and in the near future because, as you point it rightfully, on the long term, AI can develops into something different again.
However, it would be very wrong in my opinion to assume that AI has its own understanding and consciousness... At,least for now, it's nothing even close to that and the best we can simulate with current research is a fly behaviour. It still a genuine concern that could lead to catastrophes, but worse than just having fun scrolling and being dumb in my opinion. Unfortunately, AI is developped without much regard to potential dangers. Researchers worrying are leaving,; and people who literally pray for human extinction are speaking freely of developping AI arguing it's a good outcome; while some bosses acknowledge dangers, but think it will get solved by normal people fighting CEO and preventing thhem from further developping AI like at the moment.

Good, it's hard to discuss with a 32 year old who has "more" experience in his life and could say a lot more about AI, nope AI exists since just a few years. I think you just don't understand what I mean, and you sound like someone with too much trust in AI, sounds wrong but it is what it is.

My whole adolescence is the beginning of the digital ages and the beginning of AI, you don't know what that is like, when you can cheat through your whole life and when no-one talks with you anymore in general. Because everybody is just interested in their phone. You don't know that means!

Discussion with you ended.

I think AI is both good and bad but just depends WHAT it is and HOWWW u use it. I made a forum here about it but it is locked because two persons made a stupid argument and destroyed that forum. But the beginning is still nice to read which u can do here: https://penpal-gate.net/forum/12-everyday-life-and-customs/10366-is-ai-good-or-evil But i think to say ALLL AI is good or bad is wrong. It just depends.

AI doesn't exist since just a few years. We've been decades with it already before GPT was released. I think you misunderstand not going fully agreeing with you with putting trust in AI... Like I said, AI performances are mediocre and the direction it takes is worrying to say the least.

The digital age started before your adolescence too. Don't think that AI is used to "cheat" only at school either; that would be a terrible assomption; especially in research.
The link between AI and phone is shakky. Smartphones are around use since +15 years. Nobody waited AI to get their nose glued to their screen.

It's a bit sad because my statements are basically in line with you when it comes to being concerned with AI evolution. The difference is just how emotions and arguments are blended. Look at it again please; I may not criticize AI itself like you, but institutions and incentives are harshly criticized in my precedent posts...

In Western Europe maybe it isn't used for cheating in education. In backward countries like Croatia where cheating is extremely widespraded it's definetly used for those purposes.

But AI is used for a LOTTTTTTTTTTTT more than only that. And for example in our school most are not super dumb to use AI for cheating because you can see it super fast if for example somebody uses ChatGPT for text writing. But ALSOOOO if u have exam and u can only write with pen then u FAIL and everybody knows it. So at least in my class that is way to stop it. But AI for in school is i think maybe just like 0.01% of all the AI.

Nah it definitely is used in Western Europe. I guess some would do AI generation purely and got spotted on quickly, but I assume more students are doing AI assisted composition nowadays, or simply to try to assimilate their work for a part.

Like Yue said, there is also a clear difference between home produced work with AI and school produced work, so either students change their use of AI or fail at school exams.
I've seen many people using AI to get better looking presentations too and I guess it was nice. Some other use it as a second teacher.

AI is also used outside school by adults for making scientific papers too... there are concerns related to a surge of productivity and bad papers because of that.

A discussion on AI is almost an open invitation to consider the subject matter in absolute terms. Whatever your theoretical stance on current developments concerning AI, the current technological wave will not be stopped. Taking that reality “as is” will enable people to consider an appropriate and responsible use of AI. Statutory intervention in certain areas - e.g. specific deepfake applications - is already visible. Work related applications to significantly aid effectiveness at the office are rapidly developing beyond current imagination.
