What do you think about ableism? Is it increasing everywhere or not?

hiii @Borboletagirl!! i think it means discrimination of people who are disabled i think right? in my country there are a lot of things to help people with disabilities like for example in buildings or if you take the train or bus. but i think it is very important that everybody gets nice chances and if you need help that people want to help you.

And if you for example go shopping or taking a bus or train or if you go to a museum do you think that you get enough help? I think if you visit for example Amsterdam there are a lot of of persons and things to help disabled people (for example lotsss of elevators or people who can help you if you use transport).

Of course I get help when needed

It is very frightening that people with disabilities are so often discriminated against due to external circumstances. In local public transport, for example, and accessibility in general.

I abused alcohol for over 25 years, was homeless and had lost all social skills. After ten years, I am now "back on track".

But it has left its mark. I'm still in treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder.

I keep finding that the moment I talk about it openly, I'm ostracized. People don't trust me anymore and I'm no longer trusted.

That is very painful.

I think that you are super strong because it happened but you got everything better again!! so if people have problems with that or dont trust you it is not right. and i hope that you can be proud about what you did again!! i give you every respect i have for what you did because only very good and strong people can do that. 💪💪🥇🥇

Im disabled myself and it depends (in my personal experiences) where you are and what type of dissabilities

Perhaps we can change it here so that everybody feels super welcome here and you can write nice things what you like without people judging you or writing negative things. So i hope here at PPG there is NO room for ableism or racism or different things that exclude and that everybody is respectfully nice to each other and support each other. 😊😊✨🌈🥰❤️❤️

So I don't think it's possible to treat everyone with respect.

I would never treat people with racist attitudes with respect. I don't even want to!

I understand why you say that. If it is online and people are not respectful (for example trolling, spamming or ghosting suddenly) it depends on what i think is right but at least i try not to be over the line of not being respectful too. Maybe i do go over the line but i try to be respectful still, but that does not mean i cant say for example that i completely disagree with something. And if it is ghosting i try to be respectful and accept that they will act like that even if you made efforts for them and always tried acting nicely. And if it is really abusive i think it is the best to report to @Etienne.

some of the disabled are nice, but some of them aren't. (cause several people i know have mental disability, and each disability has had spectrum, and each spectrum has different characteristics, some look like ordinary people and some don't)

and I had a bad experience with a disabled person. He had mental disability, and he couldn't speak properly. But his nature still working properly and he trying to get close to me all the time and endup harassed me by to stroke my thigh and lean on my shoulder (ofcourse i'm not comfortable) and luckily all friends who saw it immediately protected me.

eventhought i had bad experience, it doesn't mean that every disable is bad, nope. I just want to say my own experience that not all disabled people are good people but on the contrary, not all are bad.

and oh, disabled people don't like it when they are seen as having disabilities. If you want to help, just look at them & treat them like normal people.

Today i was waiting for thr tram to go to sport (SN sport) and the board (with the departure times) said 10 mins waiting after 10 mins it didnt come (at all) and that x3 i had a hard time not to scream like a banshee

I am dyslexic. But ableism? I dunno.... I guess with what I do with my life I am not particularly impacted by it.
It was harder when I was young. Everything is designed for normies. No one considers opening stuff up to the rest of us.
Yet, some of the most important things have been given to society by the non normies....
I think you need to claridy and detail your question a bit and get more specific.
Ablism IS a real thing. Right now all forms of discrimination are on the rise. Which is in my view a terrible tragedy.
But what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Which still isn't fair nor is it fulfilling is it. But it is all I've got.
