What is The impact of architecture on lifestyle in your opinion? Politiek en overheid

Do you see… when you go to a new city or country, you feel like its a different world😁 also, their traditions and cultures and behaviors are different. Some reasons are government, history, etc. but i think one reason could also be architecture. In wich ways do you think it could impact and do you think it actually COULD really change our lives?

In Italy there are wonderful buildings. Yet there are horrible Italians who don't know how to appreciate this beauty 😞😢

I think architecture is also culture and sometimes also history and traditions. For example in your country very beautiful palaces and moskes that are very old and with beautiful architecture. And because those can be very important places and maybe even the most important in a city it can be super important even. And I think if architecture is from history and not only new it makes a city very special and nicer. So i prefer for example Beijing, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome and Cairo more than for example Dubai. 🙂

And i would ❤️ to go to for example Iran, Turkey or Japan to see other kinds of important places and that is often places with important buildings too. So that is also architecture. 😃

There have been quite a few studies on the topic. To sum up: Yes, architecture has a huge impact on people. The main one is that grey, dull blocs of concrete make people depressed whereas more complex/organic shapes with colours tend to decrease the advert effects on mood. You can add proximity to parks, garden or simply how green is the city.
I think some city planners attempted to take it in consideration, bringing nature to cities/trying to build them like a garden, but I don't rememebr that part very well.

For the different cities/culture. I think one important point is also that architecture is influenced by culture. @Pennarossa2024 is from Italy, and there, you have Sicily, where at least 3 cultures are very visible in the architecture: Roman, Spanish and Arabic.

I live in Belgium and every big city I visit in my country feels like I am in an abder country. We have old buildings in Ghent and Brussels with historical stories. we have Ypres where the trenches from the war and the bunkers of the Germans are. And yes it changed our lives because if we visit it we still think of how it was before

Architecture, as an art form and a functional discipline, has long been recognized as a reflection of the human spirit and a manifestation of cultural ideals. At its core, architecture is a language in itself, communicating ideas, values and emotions through the creation of spaces. The language of design is shaped by the architect's vision and intention, as well as the cultural, historical and social contexts in which it exists. Architecture is not merely the construction of buildings, but a profound reflection of the human condition and collective aspirations. Through the language of form, space and materiality, architecture carries the weight of cultural, social and historical significance. It is an art form that encapsulates the spirit of an era, encapsulating the values, beliefs and aspirations of a society.

but Ypres was better restaured and rebuild then every city, that has been destroyed in a war! It is great how historic Ypres look today, because in 1918 this city was gone...only ruins!

@Piwipete Yes ypres look very good nowdays

Recently I learnt that Architecture was really impacting one's mental health, which means that the better the architecture is (the more diverse, the more natural, the more artistic it is), the more positive the impact on mental health it has, and conversely as well.

Did you guys know that ?
