This bear is named Warm William. It was placed all over my city to offer people who feel lonely a chance to tell someone their worries, feelings, or thoughts. Do you think this is a good idea? Would you talk to this bear? Would you talk to someone you see sitting next to this bear? I look forward to your answers.

I think this is a beautiful idea. Sometimes people are not really looking for advice - they simply want someone or something that feels safe enough to listen without judging them. Even a silent bear like Warm William can make people feel less alone for a moment, and that itself has value.

I am curious though… does the bear respond in any way? Maybe through expressions, lights, sounds, or messages after listening? If yes, then it becomes even more meaningful and comforting.

It also makes me wonder why so many people today struggle to find someone they can truly open up to. Maybe people are too busy, maybe everyone is carrying their own emotional weight, or maybe many conversations have become more about replying than genuinely listening. Real listening has become rare.

And honestly, if I saw someone sitting beside Warm William sharing their feelings, I would probably approach them warmly and start a gentle conversation. Sometimes a small human connection can help more than we realize.

I'm not sure. It looks, to me, a little ridicolous. I don't think I would talk to the bear. And if I wouldn't know the bear talks, and I go sit on the banch, because I want to sit for a while, and I say, as a joke, 'hi' to the bear and the bear says 'hi, what can I help you with?' back, then I would really jump up, my heart would do the same.

A Warm William is someone who truly listens to you when you are struggling with something.

Everyone feels a bit down from time to time. Talking about your small or big problems helps you feel better about yourself again. But that is only possible with someone who truly listens to you. That is someone your Warm William is.

Become a Warm William for your friends yourself and make a world of difference!Een Warme William was created as a symbol and awareness campaign to make emotions open for discussion and to strengthen mental well-being. The initiative was created to offer a listening ear and to encourage people (and young people in particular) to talk about their feelings. It is to make us aware that there are many people who need to talk and be heard

I recall in Seoul that one of the bridges ... I can't remember which one, had signs placed at intervals with encouraging and compassionate messages written on them. A friend told me it was like the bridge was talking to you.

I don't recall seeing Warm William. I suppose it's a good idea. Anything helps, I suppose. Here, I'd give Warm William about two weeks before he is stolen, vandalized or even worse.

Remember hitchBOT? Hitchhiked across Canada, Germany and the Netherlands with no problems. Lasted two weeks when it attempted to hitch from Boston to San Francisco and was stripped and decapitated in Philly... he must of made the mistake of visiting the Kensington neighborhood....

Better then a.i😁🥰

If somebody would want to talk about problems and it is not chatting but IN REAL then i would not really now how to begin and what to say until u feel comfortable. With chatting that is a LOTTTT easier but if they look at u and u feel more stressed then i would maybe get stuck that u dont know what to say to help them unless u know them already better. Because in that case u feel more comfortable already. 🙂

People fall in love with AI chat Bots so I can see how some people could get into talking to William. I'd have to be absolutely ripped to tell William my life story tho.

Ow i got it wrong i thought if u sit next to the bear that u wanted to talk with somebody real and that way u know it. But u mean talking to the BEAR???

Whats wrong with talking to bears? I do it all the time?😁😆

I saw one time a docu on youtube and it was about that in Japan sometimes guys PREFER an AI girlfirend instead of a REAL girlfriend because that is easier and also because they dont complain or they are nicer or because of other reasons. But i think that is really weird because it is NOTTT the same and they just dont care about real persons because they prefer the AI relationship more. 🙄😬😵‍💫🤐🤐

Yes.. I see people talking to famous Graves in the past. I remember in Albania, people would go to Enver Hoxha's (Albanian Stalinist dictator) and say things like.. "Wake up! Come see your people."

Wake up Enver, we need additional 700 000 bunkers

Good one! Hahha those fucking bunkers. Still, I'd love to put one in my yard. Party it up!

Isn't that the Mapo bridge, infamous for its suicide attempts? I've read that those pictures could somewhat had a negative effect if put alone and not paired with other methods like onlines or fences; partly because it normalizes the bridge as "suicide site" in people mind (what we call Werther effect and that exists in other ways).

Possibly Mapo... as their to their efficacy... I can't say... I suppose it could have Werther effect. In my opinion, when someone has their heart set on the deed ... nothing will dissuade them

I think it’s really nice idea about a warm William I’ve never seen anything like that so I don’t think it’s silly it’s a lot better than having a tree painted blue saying R Y OK outside my town. People don’t talk about what’s going on with them enough if it’s going to help or keep people from self harm I think it’s awesome it’s gotta be better than bottling it up.

True...I don't have an issue with the concept. Our hospital gives robot pets (cats and puppies) to dementia patients, and it seem to help, despite the whole uncanny animal valley.

My take is that sadly...warm willy wouldn't last long here without someone taking out their frustrations
